Dr. Jonathan Mark Sykes, MD

This place is a good place for surgery until something goes wrong or needs to be revised. In particular, with Dr. Sykes. He will tell you anything you want to hear and talk you into more procedures than you came in for. I came for a lip lift and was talked into 4 other procedures. You are not made aware that you will possibly have permanent nerve damage from a neck lift. I have complete numbness with both ears and the top of my head to the sides near my ears. I also had my wound in the back of my ears completely open up with my scalp hanging off. Not to mention severe hair loss that has devastated me. The one procedure I came for left my lip still too long at 20mm. And have 3 holes on each side of my nose from crappy suturing. I have them fill will puss all the time and have to extract them 3 times a week. The average philtrum length from nose to the upper lip for a woman is 11-13 mm by every textbook. He tells you he can fix anything, and after a year of him saying to wait, I… finally return after 6 appointments, and he tells me, "you look fine." When you see him, he talks nonstop and cannot get a word in, and if you mention anything about why you are unhappy, he says, "you said in a bad surgeon, so why ask me to fix anything?" He mansplains you to death, and the upshot after was he asked me to leave! He doesn't measure anything; he "uses his eyes." Well, I was an OR nurse for 22 years, and not once did I see a patient that did not have their body part marked with a scribe. He is a complete and total narcissist and will tell you anything you want to hear. He is a competent surgeon until you are left with issues. "I can fix anything, don't worry"... "I am the best and have done this for over 34 years. And says, "you look great, don't focus on the small details. Look at the whole picture." This entire plastic surgery process is about the small details. The plastic surgery mantra is called "the surgery of millimeters." So I now look like a toucan with a very long upper lip, have complete numbness, lost 70% of my hair, and struggle with all of this. If you want to see "God" in the flesh, this is who he thinks he is! Buyer beware!

Don't go to Dr. JONATHAN SYKES!! He completely disfigured my face for life!! He doesn't know what he is doing!! Look up Sacramento Superior Court records!!

Rhino, chin implant and upper lid blepharoplasty was done with the utmost care and fantastic results. Highly recommend Sykes and his office.

I've been wanting to get my nose done for so long and I went to a few different surgeons prior to finding Dr. Sykes and I am so incredibly happy that I waited for the right doctor because he did a phenomenal job! I really wanted a specific type of nose and he captured my vision perfectly. I get compliments on my nose all the time now. Years ago, when I was young, didn't know what to expect from ear surgery, Dr. Sykes did such wonderful job including hiding appearances of scars to the hairline was outstanding skills and deep consideration compare few years later i had to do the same procedure on the other side ear, lead by HMO plan provided by employment, had to seek different doctor in different group near by SJ Hospital in Citrus Heights, he didn't even closely done a job as Dr. Skye did. all these years after, I still appreciate Dr. Sykes caring skills and good thoughts how to give best care for his patients. This is the reason, I recommend my two daughters to get their Face Lift by Dr. Sykes only. He doesn't just do a job, he cares at point of each patient's view. Thank you Dr. Sykes, I am bringing my daughter Kim soon she can arrange her time off from work. She currently lives in San Diego.

I had been contemplating getting a rhinoplasty since age 16...so over a decade. My nose has always been a prominent feature on my face that has made me self conscious. I was very frightened that it would be painful so I kept putting it off. I'm in my 3rd year of medical school so I'll be going on job interviews for my first position as a doctor next year so it finally felt like the right time to take the plunge! I began to research surgeons. I decided to choose the physician who seemed to be the most capable and experienced, and worry about price later as surgery on my face did not seem like a good place to pinch pennies. Dr. Sykes has a ton of experience in facial plastic surgery and is also a skilled ENT so he would be able to ensure the breathing function of my nose would be ideal as well as the aesthetics. He is well known and highly respected in the medical community for his intelligence, innovation, artistry, and most importantly, consistently excellent results. I requested a… consultation and quote from him, as well as a few other local surgeons with good reviews. I was stunned to find out that my first choice surgeon was also the most reasonably priced...in some cases, by a long shot! My consultation with Dr. Sykes went great. He seemed to understand exactly what I wanted and went out of his way to get me on his schedule during my only break from med school even though it meant that he and his team would have to be working a full Saturday. He was also able to make my mom feel comfortable even though she was skeptical about the idea of me getting plastic surgery. He carefully answered all of my questions at my pre-op appointment and prepared me for surgery. I was VERY nervous the morning of surgery, but he had a wonderful nurse, Kat, who put me at ease. She gave me warm blankets, used lidocaine for my IV insertion (so zero pain), and had the anesthesiologist promptly give me medications to calm down my nerves so I could be relaxed before surgery. Dr. Sykes came out to say hello before the surgery and reassure me that all would go well. His anesthesiologist also came to introduce himself. I was very nervous about the idea of being intubated, but Dr. Sykes only contracts with extremely experienced anesthesiologists and I could barely tell I'd been intubated after the surgery...didn't even have throat pain! The other thing I was worried about was waking up vomiting after surgery as several people online said they vomited a bunch of blood they swallowed during their rhinoplasty surgery. Dr. Sykes team actually used a tube to get all of that junk out of my stomach while I was under so I didn't have to go through this vomiting. They were very focused on making the whole experience as comfortable as possible and they succeeded. Even though I had been so worried about the post-surgical pain, it never got above a 3/10, and I never needed to use the heavy pain medication. I only used Tylenol through my entire recovery. I was very swollen and bruised for about 5 days, but was back at work on day 9 without it being obvious that I'd had surgery. I won't be able to tell my complete final results until several months from now when the swelling is entirely gone, but I am already thrilled. I don't look like a different person and it isn't obvious I had a nose job. I just feel better when I look in the mirror and see pictures of myself. I just feel like he gave me the nose I was supposed to be born with. I am so happy and my only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. It was worth every penny and I'm 100% confident that I chose the right surgeon.

I was very unhappy with this doctor. I have told all my friends not to go to him it's not worth the risk!!

I am a highly educated professional woman and could kick myself for not following my gut after reading the reviews. He preformed upper eyelid surgery and my eyes looked totally different afterwards. One eye looked great and the other had more skin left and had a scar too low and running down, not across. I went to follow up appts several times and asked that it be fixed and I was told the swelling was not completely gone. After 7 months post-op and during my last visit with Dr. Sykes, he told me that he agreed my eyes look different, but "he meant it to look that way". He told me I needed a brow lift to fix the problem and if I had that down (at the full price of course), he would fix my eye "free". How is this man still in business? I went to Dr. Toft who fixed my eyes and they both look great now - I did not need brow lift. Please do not make the same mistake I did - run from this doctor who spends too much time thinking about how wonderful he is, rather then having… great results with his surgeries and happy patients. If a doctor screws up a surgery, he should fix it - period.
