Dr. Adam Keller Ashton, MD

Dr. Ashton is fantastic. He is incredibly knowledgeable and I am comfortable talking to him. My previous psychiatrist had a very cold demeanor and actually scared me. She refused to take me off of a medication that had severe side effects. It wasn’t easy getting an appointment with Dr. Ashton (as he has many patients) and I had to get some help from my psychologist; but I am so grateful to have him as my doctor. I wouldn’t want to see anyone else.

Let me preface this by saying Dr. Ashton is very smart and that’s why I went to him. He is very condescending though, especially to women. I finally had enough and decided to change psychiatrists. Resultantly, I had to request records. My new doctor reviewed the records with me (thank goodness) and he actually lied on it about what meds he had tried me on, and lied about my behavior/compliance with meds (this is a complete abuse of power). The notes were written about me in such a condescending way I was shocked as I’m a doctor also so I’m a colleague. I would never treat my patients let alone a colleague like that. When I had an urgent/emergency issue with my meds no one responded from the office, the nurse I left a message with was so rude to me. None of this is ethical in my opinion.

My husband had been misdiagnosed by another Dr. and Dr. Aston with patience and evaluations diagnosed him correctly and weaned him off the "hard drugs" he had been given. He worked with my husband to find the right combination of drugs to treat his illness and my husband returned to the man I knew when I got married. I recommend him highly. Thank you, Dr. Aston, for helping my husband become whole again.

I have been seeing Dr. Ashton since I was 19 yrs old, I believe I was one of his first patient, when he started out, and I am now 50 yrs old. He was spot on with my problem and guided me all the way through and never left me. He gave me hope and now my life is pretty darn good. I will continue to see and talk to him. dr ashton is the most professional and most caring doctor. his manner is so relaxing i love to hear him talk. he has taken care of me for years and i recommend him highly. being an rn i have met many physicians, but dr ashton is highly regarded in his field of psychiatry. he is the best there is!!!!!

Ashton is a terrible diagnostician and brutal in manner. What a horrible physician with an awful, deliberate approach.

I may have caught him on a bad day, and I WAS late for my appointment (my GPS led me to the wrong location) so he may just have been a little annoyed. First and only appointment with him. I was sent to him for appraisal for disability retirement. I found him to be brusque and slightly rude. At one point, he cut me off, and basically told me that he was not my doctor; he was merely evaluating me for the state (translation: Please shut up about your problems and just answer my questions). I left there feeling stupid and dismissed. Maybe he's different with his "real" patients, but I left there feeling like a complete jerk. He may be great if he's your regular doctor, but he behaved like he was with me the entire time.Made me feel worse about myself than I was already feeling. (And if he reads this, he will probably recommend that I be denied disability retirement)

I LOVE THIS MAN SO COMPASSIONATE

Was very impressed and was treated with respect and dignity. Was very hard for me to realize I needed help and he was there to guide me. Would recommend highly.

He has been my psychiatrist since 1992 and I have a highly favorable opinion of him. As a patient you should be aware that his primary expertise is in the field of pharmacology,that is prescribing the correct combination of medications and dosages. A typical office visit lasts ten minutes. If you need intensive counseling he will refer you to a psychologist or LCSW employed by SPA. He is an excellent choice for a patient who requires long term medicinal stabilization, and minimal talk therapy. I have found him to be quite receptive to patient input regarding the meds, and not hesitant to prescribe newer ones. His receptionists are excellent, instead of calling out a patients name from across the large waiting room, so everyone in the place hears it, after the initial checking in, they will walk to where you are sitting and direct you to the doctors office.
