Dr. Adam Paul Garlock, MD

Horrible experience with Dr. Garlock . No bedside manner. Seems to me that he hates children and his job. Not a thorough exam or questioning. Wanted to say pain meds and send us out the door. Would never recommend him to anyone.

I brought my son into the Urgent Care Center due to asthma symptoms and I have never experienced a more unprofessional and uncaring physician. After a 30 second examination of my son, he quickly assessed that he needed more prednisone. However, when I again explained his symptoms and my concerns since I had lost a son to asthma, he spent 10 seconds examining my son's ears. He seemed more concerned about pushing us out the door than with actually addressing the issues. He refused to address the other symptoms my son was experiencing and indicated he would be unable to tell what the cold sweats were caused from. As a trained physician I would expect he would spend a little more time trying to address the concerns my son was experiencing. When I asked to speak to another physician and requested an X-ray Dr. Garlock refused. He visibly became upset when I stated that he had not satisfied my concerns and quickly dismissed me off to the nurse stating that if I wanted to complain, I… could. I have sought care for my children from that facility for over 12 years and I have never been treated with as much disrespect as this individual displayed.

I brought my 6 week old son into Children's Close To Home Urgent Care on Cleveland Avenue in Westerville, Ohio. The total time Dr. Garlock was in the room - 30 seconds TOPS! I brought my infant in, for possible returning thrush. I was unsure if it was definitely coming back, so I went into urgent care to be safe. He walked in the room, tried to look at his tongue with a wooden depressor, and claimed that he & I quote, "Can't tell if he has thrush, while he has a mouth full of milk" . Anyone who has been around children, clearly know, they don't store milk in their mouth after they eat?? Especially not to the point of not being able to see their tongue, I looked for myself, before he came in the room, (after I fed the baby) and after he left the room, both times, I could CLEARLY see every color on his tongue. Another quote for you.... he proceeded to say "I'll take your word for it". YOU'LL TAKE MY WORD FOR IT?! That's how he diagnoses infants? Then, says, last time u used Nystatin,… right? Uh, no. Good job taking the time to read my child's file. Last time he had Fluconazole, so this time he gave the baby Nystatin. I am so scared to actually treat the baby with the medicine, I don't want to put medicine in his system if it's not needed. And of course, this was right before urgent care closes, so I assume his actions were based on wanting to get home, but then again, judging by the other review, maybe he does just need more education, and to be aware of how serious a child's medical care and health is. HE WAS VERY CARELESS WITH THE TREATMENT OF MY INFANT! I just wanted to cry, because now I am very very worried about my baby, and weather or not to proceed with treatment. I think I need a second opinion.

Dr. Gorlock was less than stellar during our visit to Nationwide's Children's Close to Home in Westerville. My daughter had full body hives, which were not decreasing even after 3 doses of Benadryl. She also has a history of asthma. He initially stated that we should just continue trying Benadryl. After stating that I felt it wasn't helping AGAIN he reluctantly offered to give her an rx for Atarax and wanted to send us on our way. I suggested a steroid-he said he didn't think it was necessary, but, again, gave us an rx. Furthermore, when I told him I thought it could be a latex allergy (because the hives started right after a dentist appt.) he incorrectly stated that "all health care institutions use latex-free gloves now". I called my dentist, and, guess what? They use latex gloves unless there is a known allergy. Mr. Garlock clearly needs further education in allergy signs/symptoms and diagnosis. His medical director will be hearing this same information, too.
