Dr. Adam Garrett Suslak, MD

My appointment was a waste of my time and my money. I have anterior lateral knee pain, mild intermittent front hip pain, and mild intermittent lateral ankle pain. I explained my pain to the assistants who appeared interested and typed notes into a laptop. Dr. Suslak barged into the exam room, didn't close door, and didn't ask me why I scheduled an appointment. He advised me that I have a back problem and an issue with the sciatic nerve. I advocated for myself and said I recently had a lumbar MRI and a nerve damage test which indicated I thankfully don't have nerve damage. Dr. Suslak doubled down and insisted I don't have a knee problem. He was very agitated. He was smug, arrogant, dismissive and didn't listen. I'm not returning to OrthoNY.

Dr. Suslak treated our 16-year-old son after he sustained a bad injury whilst skiing. He had to reconstruct all his ligaments for his knee. He was kind, sympathetic, and explained each step so that we understood. We will forever be grateful to him for his help and time. Excellent surgeon and great bedside manner. We heartily and unequivocally recommend this doctor to all.

I was 44 and had hip pain for several months. X-ray and regular MRI imaging did not show anything. Three specialists - a sports medicine and rehabilitation doctor, rheumatologist, and Georgetown University professor orthopedic surgeon Brian G. Evans - could not come up with a definite diagnosis. Dr. Suslak examined me and diagnosed femoroacetabular impingement. He sent me to do MRI with contrast, which confirmed his diagnosis. Dr. Suslak offered arthroscopic surgery. He was straightforward in his assessment: my left hip had signs of arthritis and the surgery may not eliminate the pain completely; for my right hip, he said, the probability of success is 90%. I opted to go ahead with the surgeries on both hips. Now, 6 years later, I can say that the surgeries helped me a lot. My right hip is completely pain free. My left problematic hip, the one Dr. Suslak warned me about, required an advanced arthroscopic procedure with removal of bone growth. It took longer than usual (1 year) to… recover. But now this hip is in less pain and moderately (20-30%) better than 6 years ago, and, importantly, the surgery stopped the progression of arthritis and worsening of the pain. I an veery grateful to Dr. Suslak

I do not recommend this surgeon to anyone. He did a major hip surgery on me with ligament tears. No follow up care or discharge and 8 weeks into it had new tears ending up bed ridden on oxycodone around the clock to the point of the oxy almost leading me into suicide. Dr. Suslak stated he couldn’t help me when the surgery clearly failed and was not willing to find me a new surgeon along with denying me medical care or answering any of my questions. His medical care plan was oxycodone, bed ridden and a wheel chair at the age of 38. If you value your life don’t see this surgeon. He shouldn’t be practicing.

Absolutely Love this office and Dr Suslak. I was in pain for years and He was the only one to give me my life back. Can not say enough about how happy I am with Dr Suslak and all of his staff

I can not say enough good things about him. I saw him for bilateral hip problems. He always takes his time with me, is very professional, polite, has a huge knowledge of my hip issues and was spot on with every single diagnoses. I had surgery with him twice. I received excellent care pre-op as well as post op. I had two great surgeries and two great outcomes. He gave me my life back. I completely trust him and can not recommend him highly enough.

Doctor did not listen to my description of symptoms. He deliberately talked in a rapid manner, to cut me off. He demonstrated poor eye contact. The office employees were very inattentive and unprofessional, busy texting on their cell phones etc. RUSHED and in pain.

Turns out Dr. Suslak wanted to give me anestesia and operate on my foot and take me out of work for 2 weeks for a tiny piece of glass that was stuck in my foot. Which another doctor took care of right in his office. No drugs no pain killers no hospital... nothing in a matter of seconds. I can't believe I almost went through with surgery. Thank goodness I got a second opinion. :)

This was an awful visit. First I called to make an apt. And got hung up on. Had to call back only to wait 10 more minutes. Everything is cool when I get there. Until I met the Dr. Suslak. He says I have a splinter but the xray shows some thing round. Oh I forgot he's examining me with the door wide opem so patientare working by staring at me. Then he tells me Im gonna spray this numbing spray on my foot. I ask him does it hurt snd he ignores me and sprays anyway no warning and misses most my foot and get s my hand. Then pproceeds to jam a pair of surgical scissors in my foot wjich made me scream and cry and a few patients stopped to stare at me bc the door was wide open. Then he says he needs to do surgery. I was like ok. Until then can you perscribe me something for the pain he say s no. I say well I work on my feet and I don't get paid sick days so no work no money. He's like well I can operate tomorrow itll be an easy surgery small incision. Great lets do it. I leave bc they said I… could go. Then down the street call me to tell me to come back I need a physical for the surgery. I turn around. Tell me to talk to one lady. She says she isnt ready for me. Then I talk to another lady. The dr. Gave me a script for ibuprofen then the order Dr. Said I shouldn't take them if I am having surgery. So now Im really confused. Then they give me sheet that says don't eat or drink after midnight. My surgery was for 5pm the next day. So I finally leave. Excited for my in and out procedure the next day. To be done with all these people and then my mom says I may jot be able to drive after the surgery. I thought well that's silly they said it was a simple in and out thing im sure they would tell me something that I couldn't drive myself. Just in case I called back and they said no I couldn't drive myself. Good thing I called back. Then I said how many hours til I can drive they were like 2 weeks! Also said I couldn't work for 2 weeks. After I just told him I couldn't take time off. He never said any of that before I left. I thought it was an easy in and out thing. Lied to me. Didn't tell me anything I needed to know and humiliated me. This dr. Is terrible. Your better off using web md
