Dr. Adel Ahmed Eldahmy, MD

When I began seeing Dr. Eldahmy, I liked him a lot, he seemed attentive and very personable and talked of his desire to get people OFF of their medication. I came to him from out of state already on medication, so he did not prescribe, but maintained what the past doctor had written. I have seen him for about 2.5 years now and in the last year almost every visit I have felt ultimately unheard, and when he asks for thyroid tests or the like, he refuses to write the order for them and makes me go back to primary care for them (lazy! If he wanted the tests, he should order them!). At one point I expressed concern over the habit-forming effects of a drug that he prescribed, and brought him a drug free alternative method. Despite the fact that he says how he wants to decrease medication prescription, he immediately said that he was unwilling to even look into this option (which is medically verified as an alternate treatment option, not just a hocus pocus kind of thing). My last visit… I said that I had been very depressed and listed all of the classic depression symptoms. His response? "When your body feels better, you will feel better too. Go up to UCI and let Academia sort you out". I paid him $85 for him to NOT listen to my concerns or address them for 15 minutes, and to tell me to go and let the academics sort my issues out. I am very disappointed in the lack of care and compassion, not to mention frustrated that he did not understand the weight of my psychological situation and dismissed me. I will seek help elsewhere, but I fear that this approach with others could be deadly.

Wow. Just wow. I wish I had looked at the Yelp reviews prior!!! Came into the office for my appointment time, it was very clear to the staff working that I was new to the area and needed medication refills as driving up to Santa Monica was no longer an option. The doctor did not even speak to me as he started reviewing my new patient paperwork he then promptly informed me that he has never seen someone on such a high dose of klonopin, (3mg is not a high dose when you have been taking it for 7 years) he continued to read my other prescriptions and said "he could not help me", when I stated I came strictly for medication refills this appointment and I was going to go into withdrawal he suggested that I go to a hospital and or continue driving to LA. I have been going to well known psychiatrists in both NYC and CA for over 15 years and have never seen a medical professional act in such a way. His pity offer to write me .5 a milligram of a medication I have been taking for 10 years is… nothing short of a joke. This man is not well and could probably seek some help himself.

I recommend that you avoid this psychiatrist. He lacked the empathy and willingness to work with a "difficult" patient. I have a number of autoimmune diseases and medical conditions, which affect my levels of coping and which contribute to my anxiety and depression. This man did not wish to help me, but rather advised me to seek treatment elsewhere. He recommended Mission Hospital intensive outpatient program, which I have already looked into, and, because of all of my medical conditions, I cannot be in a program like that. I explained that my bowel problems prevent me from being a candidate for this type of program. I feel that I was too difficult a patient for him, and he seems to prefer to treat someone with a less complex set of problems. When I told him that he was obviously wiping his hands of me--rather than showing a willingness to work with me--and that I was unable to give him a good review, he became very defensive and began to threaten me. He basically told me… that if I posted a bad review, he would take legal action against me. So see this physician at your own risk.

A friend of mine recommended Dr Eldahmy and I'm very glad to have come to see him.

I've gone to a number of doctors in the past couple of years and I just wanted to share how incredibly easy Dr. Eldahmy's office made this entire process. Some of the other doctors I've visited made me wait at least 15-30 minutes even with an appointment and would just throw prescriptions at me without even talking to me. I was very skeptical to go to another doctors office after that experience, however Dr. Eldahmy was very open and listened to what I had to say. He's willing to go above and beyond for his patients.

Before coming to see Dr. Eldahmy, I was having a very difficult time with life. One day, I knew I had to do something so I can continue to be productive and happy in my life. That was over three years ago. In that time I went back to school, obtained my Batchelor Degree in Nursing and now I am working on my Master Degree. With his help, I do not believe I would have been able to clear my mind and succeed. He is always punctual and his Saturday appointment availablility allows me to see him without interrupting work. The staff is super and attentive to my needs. If I call in for a prescription refill, I get immediated response. I wish all doctors operated like Dr. Eldahmy.

I have been seeing Dr. Eldahmy for almost a year. He is the most caring psychiatrist I have ever been to. Prior to seeing him I tried several other doctors who were horrible. I was taking my medication completely wrong and once he corrected that my sleep issues and anxiety went away. The front office staff are friendly and helpful. I am thankful to have found him.

I'm a new patient of the doctor. He was very kind and professional. I was apprehensive about being overly medicated and he was very understanding and willing to work with me to figure out what really is best for me...I've been to other doctors who barely pay attention to what I'm saying and then just give out meds, he was not like that. I was also very happy with his staff, the office was very welcoming and friendly.

I have been seeing Dr. Eldahmy for approximately 4 years. I came to him an anxious, grieving, mess. His diagnosis was excellent and his treatment of me has been exceptional. My life is completely different today. I continue to meet with him, just not as much as I did for the first two years. I don't know where I would be without his help.
