Dr. Ahmad Babar, MD

I was looking for a new primary care physician. The one I had misdiagnosed me. Babar did not know this. I had one appointment with him and was horrified. He instructed me to return to the doctor's who hurt me. He also weirdly questioned me about my medicine. To me, Doctor Babar was very judgmental. I don't think he cared about my health at all! I had two previous bad experiences with two UVA doctor's and he questioned me about what was so bad about those doctors. And he prescribed another antibiotic for me for a skin condition I had. This was like the 4th or 5th Rx of an antibiotic which caused me a reaction.

I'm in my 60s and have been treated by many docs over many years. I am very pleased with the care I have received from Dr. Babar over the past two years. I find him to be kind, respectful, knowledgeable, patient and thorough. I trust his assessment and recommendations yet feel comfortable asking questions. He addresses each ailment whether it be one or more than one and he always asks if there is anything else before the appointment is terminated. I feel fortunate to have Dr. Babar as my Primary Physician and I would not hesitate to refer a friend or family member to him. I've read a couple of reviews in which people have felt that Dr. Babar was dismissive or condescending to them; I've never experienced this in my interactions with him, but he is very bright and his mind works very quickly so at times I find I'm playing catch up. I don't see that as a negative, I see it as being assessed by a proficient and knowledgeable doctor, and, again, he has always stopped to answer any… questions I have. And I almost always have questions.

I had two visits with Dr Ahmad Babar. My first did not make a good impression on me when he walked into the office having loose pieces of paper that were supossed to be my “file,” (not even in a folder with my name on it), not even having reviewed the contents of “my file” & in what appeared to be second day old casual wear. I am very well versed, having educated myself on my own condition & had many questions for the doctor. But the reception I got from him was one of condecension & not taking me seriously. He was very dismissive & insulting to my intelligence. He gave me vague & very general answers to my questions & it was a waste of my time. I gave it one more shot though, in hopes that perhaps he was having an “off” day. My second visit was no better. Additionally, I witnessed on that day, a medical transporter, walk out of the office with a full ZIPLOC baggie full of blood samples & viles. Not sure that this is within CDC regulations. I was extremely unimpressed with Dr. Babar… & found someone else to become my GP. If you are a SMART woman who needs your doc to take you seriously, answer your questions thoroughly in a fashion indicative of competency, extensive education & experience in a way that is clear & comprehensive to the average person, without “talking down” to you, I DO NOT recommend you go with Dr. Ahmad Babar. Find someone else.
