Dr. Alan Howard Greenspan, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Greenspan for about a decade. The office manager does not seem care about customer service and is extreemly rude when faced with questions. If I were not a long standing patient then I would most likely change doctors because of her attitude.

I'm a regular patient of a doctor who joined his practice. One day, as I was walking around the city with my niece, visiting from another state, I looked down and my legs were more swollen than I've ever seen and on the inside of both lower legs a rash that I didn't feel. It wasn't itchy nor didn't burn. I have lupus and bipolar depression. I had been told my kidneys were in a bit of trouble and some meds changes were made. I saw my Rhuematologist the next day. She thought it might be vasculitis. A biopsy was asked and after the weekend it was almost gone. I couldn't see my dermatolo. Dr. Greenspan refused to biopsy saying it was a contact rash. Now when ever I get edema, I get the same rash on both legs same place, same shape, same size. Apparently they turned out to be ruptured blood vessels called capillaries. I do know for a fact, if I had been able to get an appointment with the doctor I usually see, I would have had the biopsy. I believe Dr. Greenspan could cause my dermatologist… patients by his nonchalant attitude and his big head thinking I know what I'm looking at. I'm hoping he sees this and learns from this. He should know that there isn't all horses sometimes you find a zebra. I know he understands that.

I went to Dr. Greenspan with a rash on my lower calf. He was alarmed by it, said he didn't know what it was and said I should've gone to the ER. He prescribed a hydrocortisone cream then wanted me to return for a follow up. Why would I go back? He didn't know what it was!! My previous visits were more professional. I left feeling I knew what the problem was and had a solution.

Dr. Greenspan is by far the BEST Dermatologist in Manhattan, and trust me I should know. I have suffered from cystic acne for over ten years now. It has consumed my life and not in a good way. Therefore, I have had the unfortunate experience of seeing all the â?? top Doctorsâ?? in the city. I have tried every laser treatment, and have had every Dermatologist try to sell me everything in sight. However, with Dr. Greenspan he was the first Doctor that took the time to actually get to know me, my concerns, and, my issues with my skin. I am blown away by his kindness and genuine concern for his patients. He has been so honest, never recommended anything that wasnâ??t necessary and has given me the confidence I needed to finally go on Accutane. As I mentioned, I have seen many Doctors over the years and Dr. Greenspan is the only one I have ever trusted to put me on this medication. Since starting my course of Accutane, he has been available at all times to answer any questions and… to see me when need be. His office is spotless, the staff is fantastic, especially Dr. Grenspanâ??s nurse Liz, who is extremely efficient. I have struggled for to many years, but thanks to Dr. Greenspan I can finally see a light at the end of a very long tunnel. One last thing, do you know any Doctor that doesnâ??t rush you out of the room to see the next patient? I hadnâ??t until I met Dr. Greenspan. There is no better Dermatologist in the city and I canâ??t recommend him enough.

Dr Greenspan is the best and I am very critical of my doctors. I have used him as my Dermo for many varying issues- He is conservative, caring, compassionate and very knowledgable/honest. I went to him for an infected cyst in my armpit (called him at 4 am because of the pain and he promptly returned my call concerned and made room for me immediately). He was very knowledgeable,patient and explained my condition to me- with so much heart. Due to the fact that I trusted him, I went back because I delvelpes 3 cysts on my FACE and had broken capillaries. He removed the cysts delicately with no scaring and fixed my capillaries- again, explaining the process and procedure. I was very happy with the outcome. In this big city filled with so many doctors- Dr Greenspan sure makes it clear that his patients are his priority and he handles them with CARE. I would recommend him to anyone that needs dermitological assistance because he is brilliant.

Dr Greenspan is very thorough. He is friendly and professional and I have full confidence in him.

I went to dr. Greenspan for a mole check - I pointed out a mole that I saw growing fast in a month or so, he decided to ignore it. A year after it got darker so he finally decided to remove it, obviouly at this point (1 year later) it came out abnormal. I blame him if now I'll have a huge scar on my chest. I'll never forget his negligence in not removing the mole when I told him to do so because I KNEW it was odd! Plus he has ZERO COMPASSION, when he calls you to give you the results, he doesn't try to make you feel any better, he actually makes things worse telling you are gonna have a huge permanent scar after the surgery.

I've gone to Dr. Greenspan for many years and trust him to monitor my cancer-prone skin. Although he runs a busy office, he is still nice and thorough. The women who monitor the front desk could be friendlier.

Don't bother going to this office. This doctor cannot diagnose or treat your problem. I went to him for 3 months and he didn't solve me problem. After many visits and tests I ended up seeking treatment elsewhere and getting the solution to my problem. Staff is rude.
