Dr. Alan Margherio

Too busy to answer any questions. He spent 1.5 - 2 minutes in the room with me each follow-up appointment after retina detachment surgery, a total of 10 visits for very high IOP (eye pressure). He had his tech do a pressure check at each appointment. He would walk in the room look at the monitor for my pressure and look at my eye with a hand held magnifier. He would tell me my retina was attached and to come back tomorrow. I did this everyday for 2 weeks because of the high pressure. The day after surgery for my post op appointment my pressure was 50. The tech gave me eye drops and oral medication. He told me if my pressure didn't go down they could send me to a glaucoma specialist right across the street. After 40 minutes my pressure went up to 57. He went to get the Dr. Dr Margherio he told me to sign a consent and told me he was going to do a medical term. I literally had no idea what he was about to do. He did not explain any of the procedure and then stuck a needle in my eye. He… literally traumatized me. Before this happened I asked him if I could go to a glaucoma specialist or if I had any other options? He replied no put his hand on my forehead told me to hold my head back. I believe that if I went to a glaucoma specialist right away I would not have permanent damage to my pupil and optic nerve from the high pressures. On One of my appointments the doctors started to lean forward to look at my eye and my girlfriend asked if my macula had ever detached? He stood up turn to her and said yes. Any other questions? And then left the room. He literally never did any examination of my eye I'm guessing he forgot.

Dr. Margherio does not seem to care about my concerns. His answers to my questions are very generic in nature. I would not recommend him to others.

Based on my first three appointment with Dr. Margherio I gave him a poor review. I must change that based on my most recent appointment where he was relaxed, friendly, and helpful.
