Dr. Alan Robert Schenk, MD

By far the worst physician I have ever seen. He had no eye contact with me. He was rude and had the same questions over and over as if the second time my answer was going to change. I was sent to him by my PCP for a second opinion. this doctor reviewed my records and proceeded to tell me the other rheumatologist I was seeing was a good doctor as if I asked him his opinion on the other doctor. With my condition I have multiple symptoms he scanned the medical records I was given and said he they aren't enough. he was bothered. that's what I I got from the other doctors offices what I am suppose to do? he asked what I was allergic too. I advised him the information should be in the records. he responded with: "You should know what you are allergic too"!!! Then why take the medical records for him to review? He spoke to me in a very condescending manner. I waited 3 months for this appointment in hopes he would help find some relief but it was a major disappointment. I told the office… manager he needs further training on patient /doctor experience. He seemed like he didn't want to see me as a patient because of my race. he was bothered by me and he showed it. I asked him if he talks to all his patients that way ??? He is JERK!!! I can't complain about his staff the front desk and everyone was really nice Good luck to anyone that is seeing this Jerk! Remember our insurance pays him its not free or we are his patients. I wasn't there to make friends with him I was there because I needed help. thanks for the awful experience and stressing me out.

I have been seeing Dr Alan Schenk every three months since 1990. I trust this man an very happy that he has been treating me for 26 years. Wait time verries from right away to 5 minutes wait time is the usual. I once had a wait time of 20 minutes or so, Dr. Schenk had been held up getting to work, waiting on a dentist.

He had a good response to me telling him bluntly that I was very intelligent, a member of Mensa, and that I could understand intelligent, complex explanations. Ever since, he has tried to be explanatory on an appropriate level. Yea!

Some doctors you meet, especially in disciplines wherein you can almost never achieve a cure, really want you to partner in your own care, be informed and truly assist in treatment decisions. Bear in mind that arthritis drugs often come with a laundry list of potential side effects and can, themselves, cause complications. This doctor appears to want solely uninformed patients that will follow his instructions and his decisions to the letter. I wonder if he will be the one suffering from the side effects when the time comes? Yeah, not so much.

Dr. Schenk is very efficient and very caring. I have Scleroderma and he always gave me as much time as I needed to ask all my questions. He gave me hope and always was very positive. The only reason I no longer see him is because I am home bound and need a house doctor.

Did NOT listen to what I had to say regarding my illness. Also, I had to wait more than an hour in the waiting room before each appointment. Will NOT be going back to this doctor!

Decided to see a new rhematologist for a few reasons. My primary Dr ofc referred me to Dr Schenk. I am really glad they did. He spent an entire hour with me explaining the biological meds, going over concerns, etc. He got Enbrel approved within a week. His nurse Ann called to follow up and gave me an injection right away. They provided sample injections until I can get my script filled. So pleased to have a Dr and his staff that are pt advocates!!
