Dr. Alan Louis Shabo, MD

Dr Shabo is everything one would want in a doctor. He is brilliant, but what makes him unique is the smoothness and patience with which he passes along the information you as the patient should know about your eyes. Dr. Shabo has been my ophthalmologist for nearly 40 years, and whenever someone in the medical field asks me who my ophthalmologist is, they all nod their heads and say "Oh, I hear he's great!" I can call him about concerns I have regarding other health issues and he always has the time and genuine concern for my well being to answer my questions and point me in the right direction. He never hangs up without saying, "Let me know what happens. I want to make sure you get the help you need with this." A truly genuine and exemplary physician. I am both lucky and grateful.

Intelligent and compassionate ophthalmologist. Is highly knowledgeable about medical diseases and how they relate to eye conditions=excellent diagnostician. Excellent surgeon with extensive experience.

I had a basic problem that he continually mis-diagnosed until I had permanent extensive vision loss. The problem was quickly diagnosed correctly by two other opthamologists and treatmentstarted imediately. However altho stabilized, I could never get my lost vision back.

NO ONE would treat me when I had horrible time with my vision. The tried new glasses,etc. I suffered with this and many Dr. visits for over a year! The said IF I had a cataract it would have to "ripen" before they could help me. They said I was too young to have cataracts. I was 32. It was scary beyond words.Dr. Shabo examined me, and told me I had a cataract. I burst into tears - I was so glad that someone finally believed me and could treat me. Of course the other eye fizzled on me 6 weeks later. I am now 59 and continue to have 21/20 vision. He is kind, gentle and incredibly gifted.
