Dr. Albert Anthony Cook, MD

I was referred to this Dr for a nerve test and full neurological exam because of a significant onset of symptoms- walking very erratically; inability to raise either arm over my ears and numbness in fingers on both hands. In reading previous reviews many patients described him as “old school”. I provided the doctor with a two-page typed list and description of my symptoms along with reports from two lumbar MRI’s. At the beginning of the hour-long exam, he asked many questions and specifically requested copies of any cervical MRIs. He noted that I hadn't had a cervical MRI and that it was needed. At the end of my appt, he stated he wasn't sure what was wrong, had no current diagnosis; further stating it could be neuropathy or an issue with my cervical spine, but he didn't know. His next step was simply to set up a simple "nerve test. "... 2 weeks out while he further considered what he learned from the exam. Although both my wife and I asked multiple times about scheduling a cervical… MRI, he REFUSED to order the cervical MRI! His response was, "I prefer to take a methodical approach." This sounded very much so like my care and symptoms were not being adequately addressed. Two days later, after careful examination in the emergency room, a cervical MRI, and CT; I was IMMEDIATELY scheduled for emergency spinal ACDF stenosis surgery the following morning. I was told by this Neurosurgeon and many other health care providers that had I not sought immediate attention, I risked paralysis. It is sad & infuriating that Dr. Albert Cook refused to listen to his own advice, failed to diagnose me, and refused to schedule the diagnostic MRI he knew was needed!! These inactions could have led to potentially catastrophic changes in my life. Be careful & wary of this doctor.

This doctor knows his stuff and so patient with you. He takes time to be sure you have a full understanding of his findings and plan of care. Every Doctor needs to take a page of of Dr. Cook’s page.

He's got to be the worst neurologist ever!!! He caused me to lose my drivers license by sending in to DDS in Georgia that I had alzetimers and MS! He never even tested me for either! And he never even gave me any medications for either! His bedside manner was horrible! He talked forever and never even said anything! My son went with me once and he will never go again! I wish I could sue the idiot! This has caused me so much stress and depression! I will never ever recommend him to anybody!!!

DID NOT EASE MY PAIN. DISMISSED ME AS NEEDING A PSYCHIATRIST. DUE TO SEVER MIGRAINES.

He is an outstanding neurologist, professional and efficient. He cares about his patients and their well-being. He is uptodate on the recent researches. I have been seeing him for at least 10 or 12 years.

This doctor is an absolute genius. I spent a year and a half suffering the worst cognitive and neurological complications imaginable. I had even began to make arrangements for my children, fully expecting that I would succumb to these complications. I had seen at least 15 other doctors and specialists that kept telling me it was "anxiety" or "panic attacks". Dr. Cook was my last stop. In fact, I had almost cancelled my appt with him because I could not take any more disappointment of visiting another doctor with no answers. I am so happy I saw him. Not only was he the first doctor to actually listen to me, but he ran the appropriate tests and on the very first visit he found what was causing my suffering. Now a month later I am 90% better and I am eternally grateful to this man for giving me my life back. I cannot recommend him more.

Dr Cook saved my life. After having a flu shot in 1998 I was sick and unable to work for a few years - unable to sleep, think, severe muscle spasms and paralysis. He immediately recognized my symptoms as side-effects of a flu shot and prescribed Neurontin to help the nerve damage that was causing my symptoms. I began to heal and eventually returned to work.

While doctor cook is very knowledgeable in the field of neurology, that does not mean he knows everything else about a person. He was very informative but make very rude judgements and opinions about my financial situation based off my appearance.
