Dr. Albert Lee Martinez, MD

This doctor saw my daughter who had obvious signs of strep throat (fever, sore throat). I told him her brother was exposed, but he said they don't test for it when there's not a direct exposure (which makes no sense, because I am sure kids are unknowingly exposed all the time-->which, we found out happened in this case. Strep was going around her classroom, but we didn't find out until after the fact). He refused to test her for strep. But he didn't hesitate to give her the very uncomfortable nose flu test because he said it was going around. The flu test came back negative and he sent us home. We ended up in Urgent care the next day, where she tested positive for strep! He could've saved us time, money, and a miserable night had he just done a simple test! I sent him an email the next day to let him know she did have it, and his response was "Comments noted." What an unprofessional jerk.

Dr. Martinez has an exceptional rapport with young children and adolescents, immediately putting them at ease. We have found him to be very knowledgeable, experienced, thorough, and efficient while caring for both our son and oy daughter over the years. No matter how busy his day is (or has been), he always welcome you and your child with a smile on his face and interacts in a friendly, positive, and upbeat manner. He also is very good returning email communications promptly (via the Follow My Health e-message system), and he has been very accommodating, filling out additional forms and even personally called us at home (with important lab results or other test findings) to put our minds at ease when our son was going through a series of health challenges which prevented him from being able to attend school for a period of time (something many of today's M.D's no longer are willing to do). He is a valuable asset to the Sharp Rees-Stealy team -- 5*****!

Dr. Martinez is an amazing pediatrician! He always takes his time with us and answers all of our questions without making us feel like they're dumb. Always has a smile on his face and is so respectful and cheerful! Would definitely recommend him!!

Dr. Martinez has been our pediatrician since my daughter was born nearly sixteen years ago. When he moved to Escondido, we tried a different pediatrician closer to our home and then switched back. He is a great listener, thorough, caring, and takes the time to thoroughly evaluate the situation. We are so disappointed that he is leaving Children's but hope that we will be able to follow him.
