Dr. Albert Frederick Tsai, MD

After telling Dr. Tsai I am Mormon and don't drink or smoke he continues to ask me if I drink or use drugs. The billing department billed me incorrectly and sent me to collections over $30 without calling me. The receptionist was unable to tell me when my balance due or what the charges were for. The cost if the first appointment was absolutely outrageous. Billing after that was inconsistent and incorrectly.

I do agree with other reviewers that he pushes meds, but he’s also a psychiatrist so that makes sense. However, I did not appreciate being given a diagnosis for cannabis use disorder when I have PTSD and a medical marijuana authorization. I get that because of federal laws you can’t endorse use, but telling me lies such as “there’s no evidence that marijuana use is beneficial for people w mental illness” is not okay and tells me that you don’t actually know anything about marijuana.

Dr Tsai helped me to get out of a major depressive episode with minimal doses of drugs and lots of reading and talking about my problem. With the help of a therapist and dr. Tsai I was able to be back on my feet and to learn that I must be always aware of the signs of depression. My first attempted of receiving car from another doctor was a disaster and I'm glad I found dr. Tsai.

Dr. Tsai does not listen to his patients, he jumps to conclusions, and is unwilling to change the medication he has prescribed, except to increase the dosages. He has also broken patient confidentiality.

This man is a quack, in all forms of the word. If you want controlled medications, he's the guy to see. His eagerness to prescribe controls suggests he may be receiving some form of compensation for dolling them out, as opposed to accurately accessing his patients. Very concerning.

The only Dr I have ever heard or prescribing Ambien for treatment of depression. Unfortunately I had the displeasure of having Dr Tsai as my primary physiatrist for three months. The very symptoms I went to him for had worsened after 3 months of his care. My final straw was when I told him my depression was getting much worse and he wanted me to start taking Ambien on a nightly basis. This after I told him that my sleep was fine. The staff at Overlake Hospital are awesome, to bad he is a quack!!
