Denial of Care & Unprofessional Conduct This office is not worthy of being called a Surgical Medical office. I’m a healthcare professional with surgical experience at Holmes with briefly Dr. Figueroa (surgical director at the time) as my professor in the OR during my stay. My experience in healthcare is broad — both from my own work and from the professional experience of my family members in the field. I accompanied a wheelchair-bound patient with multiple chronic illnesses as her representative/caretaker, referred here by her endocrinologist. Upon arrival at 11:30 am 9/15/2025, the front desk staff (Lynn) refused to provide care, rendering our first time appointment canceled, over a disputed $35 copay — despite the patient’s QMB Medicare status, which legally exempts her from such charges as I tried to inform her. I explained the law and even offered to have Humana (Medicare rep) confirm it directly. The secretary dismissed the documentation as “just a piece of paper” and verbally… denied care and shut the glass window mid-conversation. Only after calling Humana herself did she return with a smile, offering to proceed — but by then, the patient had already been denied care. During this ordeal, I heard a man’s laugh from the back office (only the female secretary, female manager, and male doctor were present- no patients). This office staff demonstrated unprofessionalism beyond belief. I would not trust them with my own care — or even my pets’. Denying care to a vulnerable patient over an unlawful copay demand is unacceptable. During this ordeal they violated several laws which I’m following through federal and state level. This should not happen to anyone, specially vulnerable seniors. Luckily the patient had me, but other persons go alone and are 70-80 y/o and probably extorted overcharged copay in their vulnerable state. They have no voice because they don’t know how to use the internet or the resources and laws. For this office, you’re only worth $35. The wasted time and care delayed caused to the patient will be remedied with the legal actions that will follow. Some of these reviews speak glowing of them, but I saw personally different. Then again a handful of reviews aren’t the silent thousands of patients from several decades practice. But from my deep medical experience, this was mediocre at best. My advice as a patient advocate and a human being: seek care elsewhere. You deserve better.

Dr Komar did my colostomy in 2006. I went to the ER via ambulance in pain. After tests Dr Komar was called in. He told me that my colon had ruptured and I needed surgery immediately. He was honest with me about the possible outcome. If it wasn't for Dr Komar I wouldn't be alive today. Since then he has had to remove more of my colon. Again he was honest and straightforward with me informing me that a reversal in the future is not possible. He is a surgeon I trust completely.

I wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for Dr Komar. My colon ruptured in 2006 and Dr Komar did an Emergency colostomy. Due to a medication I was on at the time my immune system was wiped out and they were doubtful I would survive as I had an infection. Dr Komar and his partner at the time Dr Hanley got me through it. Since then he has repaired a couple of parastomal hernias and a couple of years ago he removed more of my colon. He is my surgeon of choice for any surgery I need. He explains everything and is a very caring surgeon. I trust him with my life anytime.

Had surgery by him and ended up in ER! he is hack.

Please go somewhere else! I ended up in ER after surgery with him, he does not even have proper equipment to give you and office exam

Dr. Komar is a very nice man and he is smart. He explained everything to me in a way I could understand. I wasn't nervous about him doing my surgery. His staff, aka receptionist, was awful. I literally had to do her, Angie's, job. I had to call my insurance numerous times to see if she really did call in to have my surgery approved and twice they told me no, so I had to call her back and bug her. When I was supposed to have my surgery the next day, I called the hospital and they said my surgery was scheduled for the following week. It was horrible working with the receptionist and I've considered never using Dr. Komar again just because of her.

Dr. Komar is an exceptional human being. He's very straightforward, well-informed, and spent quite a bit of time explaining the pros and cons of my surgery. His demeanor and professionalism was excellent both before the surgery during my hospital stay and all of my post op appointment. I have several immune system diseases which could complicate my surgery and dr. Komar helped me to work out a plan to prevent such complications. I would go back to Dr. Komar and or refer him do any of my friends or family. The office staff was very accommodating and friendly and I couldn't of asked for a better experience.

I hae never had the opportunity to meet such a courteous person who goes to such great lengths to satisfy his Patience's. He explains everything in depth and to be the most professional and outstanding performance a person could hope for! I have never had the opportunity to meet such a polite person and knowledageable in his profession as I did with DR, Komar. I feel he went above and beyond to insure I had the best service in both of my surgeries he performed on me. It is becoming all too rare to find a person ( DR Aleksander R. Komar M.D.) that goes to such lengths to satisfy his patiences. DR Komar is a great asset to the medical field!

BEWARE.. Will want to cut you open, regardless if you are recovered yet or not from chemo or radiation, claiming that it is OK to do so, when it is clearly not OK yet. As result, you WILL suffer surgery complications, malnutrition that will surely be disregarded and not cured, and as result will suffer certain complications, unnecessary pain & sickness and end result of DEATH.. GOTO A SPECIALIST.. DON'T SAY YOU WERE NOT WARNED...

He refused to read medical reports or medical history before surgery. He did not perform the surgery in the manner that we had agreed upon.
