Dr. Dvorzhinskiy graduated summa cum laude from the University of Delaware where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and awarded the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship to pursue research related to bacterial infection. For medical school, he attended Cornell University and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his residency at Hospital for Special Surgery. During the final year of his residency, he was the Chair of the …hospital's House Staff Quality and Safety Committee, where he oversaw operational initiatives focused on improving patient safety. At this time, he also received a master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Services Research from Cornell University. He completed a yearlong fellowship in orthopedic trauma at Harborview Medical Center - University of Washington which focused on the treatment of severe injuries, polytraumatized patients, and the complications of fractures (nonunion, malunion, and infection). Dr. Dvorzhinskiy is passionate about improving clinical outcomes through research in the field of orthopedic trauma. He has been awarded research grants from internal funding sources within HSS and external organizations such as the Foundation for Orthopaedic Trauma. He has presented his research at numerous national and international research meetings and has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA).

Dr. Dvorzhinskiy is not merely a highly skilled orthopedic surgeon with exceptional credentials, but he is also a delightful person. Truly a GREAT DOCTOR in a profession that has become ever more challenging thanks to Insurance Companies and those for whom the “Bottom Line” is often more important than patient care. Dr. Dvorzhinskiy was calming, reassuring, professional, attentive, thoughtful, responsive, unrushed, and seemed genuinely committed to patient care and well-being. He explained “technical” things with great clarity and responded to our anxieties and endless questions with a wonderfully supportive “bedside manner.” He explained his treatment ideas carefully and actively sought our input and agreement. My family feels that Dr. Dvorzhinskiy views medicine as a partnership with recovery a joint venture between doctor and patient. This view is clearly shared his administrative assistant, Hasan Khedry, who could not have been more helpful. No wonder it’s called the… Hospital for Special Surgery. Everyone we met there was indeed special - and they treated us as special.
