Dr. Alex Mark Joanow, DO

So i went here over a year ago. My 1st appointment was bleh, i saw Sharon Garcia, and man i do not like her one bit! First off most women are having sex- she was giving me the impression that it is abnormal to have sex. Also, was very rude as this office does NOT follow the American?College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists guidelines for the pap smear- which is if normal, can be done every 3-5 years. instead lectures me about yearly pap smears. i was saying that because i find even the smallest speculum they have very uncomfortable.(and had uncomfortable paps in the past by another doc) They should keep a pedriac speculum available as it is not one size fits all. Also she said that she would test for all STDS, and i only gotten tested for HPV- to boot not even the way i wanted to: which was a blood draw and urine tests. Nope just a vagina swab while they do a pap smear.... Also feel free to talk to the other doctors- i had to talk to Dr. Alex Joanow about birth control- which was… fine- however i am not comfortable talking to guys about my private matters. i am the type to talk to one doc and that is all. Sharon even looked at me weird like oh this is what we do and suck it up! rude. Also after my test results, i kept getting letters when i told them that i will call if i have any problems. Good news is so far no problems and wouldn't be returning! don't go here!

I've been Dr. Joanow's patient for the past 4 years. He's very attentive, caring & takes time to talk to me and advise me everytime I see him. He's the best GYN I've ever been to.

Dr. Joanow,DO has been my doctor now for at least 41yrs. If not longer. He had joined the group with Dr. Sherman,Dr. Bloshinski ect. on I believe Prospect Ave. Below the old Horton Hospital. He helped deliever my last child which was a difficult delivery out of four. I'd seen him and his family out one time when i was with my fiance. He remembered me. I was surprised. I sent my mom, sister and my daughter to him. They absolutely loved him. So professional but yet so friendly and very careing and understanding. Now my daughter-in-law is having a baby with my youngest that he delivered. They are going to Dr. Joanow with all the faith and confidence in their new Dr. that I have in him. Like everyone else day's that goes to him " THANK GOD FOR DR.JOANOW and MAY GOD BLESS HIM and HIS WHOLE STAFF. Thank You Dr.Joanow for 40 + yrs. Of great health care. I've lived in Orange County since 2005. I was still driving to my old OBGYN in Rockland County when I found a lump on my Rob under my breast in 2014. I made an appointment with my old doctor who felt it and told me I was far too young (36) to worry about it and it was probably nothing. I asked if I should have it checked just in case. She told me she didn't think it was needed but ordered me a diagnostic mamogram anyway. It was cancer. IS he called me at work and told me over the phone. I vowed to NEVER go back to that person again. I chose Dr. No snow because he was near by. I have never been so pleasantly surprised. He worked in conjunction with my Oncologist in Phillidelphia to come up with the best plan for me. We have now been through mastectomy, o, hysterectomy and hormone therapy. I never feel neglected. I feel like he is willing to nvestigate suspicious happenings with my body and is willing to think for himself as opposed to my old doctor who ONLY followed current protocol… which basically meant I couldn't possibly need a mamogram at age 36. Besides, at doctor Joanow's office, I don't have to sit in the waiting room with forever. This man is almost always on time!

After seeing the PA in a different office for a regular checkup she told me that I should see the doctor to be put on medication for osteoporosis. When I went for my appointment, I walked into a standing room only waiting room. Since I have a bad back, I asked the receptionist how long it would take to be seen thinking I would wait in my car. She was very abrupt and condescending and told me I would just have to wait. During this first consult he said I needed other unrelated tests and never addressed the osteoporosis medicine. I waited for over 2 hours for this test and after the waiting room completely cleared out, the receptionist who never looked up finally asked me what I was doing there. When I told her I was waiting to have a test she went and got the nurse who said she had been sitting around for over an hour with no patients. She was very apologetic and did the test. By now the doctor (who kept claiming that he was "officially tired" had left and I had to make another… appointment. During the next visit, the doctor gave me the results of the test but said I would need another consult for the osteoporosis issue. When I went to this consult he looked at my charts and said he wasn't sure if I was a candidate for the medicine for osteoporosis and he would have to check with his PA who was seeing another patient at the time. He said I would need to come back. After I objected he agreed to call me with her determination. He never did. I will not go back and do not recommend him.

His professionalism and care are exceptional. The best doctor in Orange County. I was so grateful to have find him.He is highly recommended. #1 doctor!!! I recommend him to everyone I know. He is fantastic. The best!!!!!!

I scheduled a pap smear, I was looking for a new doctor. Before being seen, Dr. Joanow told me that I needed birth control and a yearly mammogram. Talk about a man with dollar signs in his eyes. He knew nothing about me except my name and my age. After my checkup he added surgery and a dna test. My previous doctor whom I had seen for 15 years did not try to push or sell anything to me. My health and well being was more important than lining his pockets, it is too bad I moved and he is now too far to visit. These are all things that I do not need. His assistant and the receptionist were not that welcoming either. His assistant looked at me like I was an alien when I told him that my previous doctor said that a mammogram should be every three years not every year. Sadly, these days most doctors only think about money.

Dr. Joanow in the course of a couple of weeks to about a month was able to diagnose I had cervical cancer from precancerous cells formation from test results high risk from another facility that did not handle me the right way. I can't thank god enough for putting Dr. Joanow in my life they are my saviors. I have so many people that I already recommended him to go see for themself. He referred me to Dr. Elizabeth Jewell another gem of a doctor which also owe her my life too, she stage my cancer 0 adenocarcinoma in situ cervical cancer and performed the da Vinci hysterectomy procedure five weeks into my surgery now I feel like this was all a nightmare and trying to get back to the beat of things. I wish I could have the money in the world to compensate Dr. Joanow and Dr. Jewell for their services I know it's their job but they save my life and that doesn't have a price. Thank you a lifetime Dr. Joanow and Dr. Jewell may God bless you always!!

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Joanow. He is very professional and straightforward. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and he referred me to one of the top oncologists in NYC. He addressed all my concerns and made it so much easier for me to cope with my situation with his honest, no-nonsense approach. I highly recommend him!

I HAVE A PROLAPSE BLATTER WHICH NEEDS TO BE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY. SO i AM HAVING THE PROCEDURE DONE NEXT WEEK AND i HAVE ALL THE FAITH IN DR JOANOW I NMOW HE WILL DALL WILLBE A GREAT REASSURED ALL WILL FINE. AND I
