Dr. Alice Claire Chavez, MD

i really like Dr. Chavez....highly recommend her and the staff is always nice. Never feel rushed and always feel comfortable to talk about concerns.

Her bedside manner is horrible!

Dr. Alice Chavez is extremely rude and has very little knowledge about women's health issues. She even asked me: "Why are you here again?" I told her my primary care dr referred me and stated my issue. She said she didn't understand why I was referred because my test results were already in. I said "YES, that's why I am here...because of the test results!" She still didn't get it. I literally walked out of that office with LESS knowledge than before I went into to see her. She left me feeling very confused and lost...she acted like I lied about being referred to her! I went back to my pcp and she helped me. Yes--my family doctor is better than her! And I waited 2 months for that darn appt. plus I paid a higher co-pay because she's a "specialist"! Ya right! Oh, I also waited about 35 mins in the waiting room + another 15 once I got called back...and for what? NOTHING!

Dr. Chavez is very nice and her office staff are professional. She seems extremely compassionate. Her knowledge about women's health issues, such as PCOS are extremely limited. Either that, or she chose not to share that information when I spoke to her. My GP appeared better informed in this area.

I was looking for a new Gyn, and got an appointment with Dr. Chavez the same day. The next available appointment would have been two weeks later, which is still good for gyn's - usually the wait is 4-6 weeks. Had a minor abnormal bleeding issue and am waiting for lab results. Everyone was really nice.

Dr. Chavez inserted an IUD in me when she was fresh out of school. On the follow up visit she noted that she had cut the strings to short and I quote "Oops I cut the strings too short". Five years later my regular CNP attempted to remove the device, but she noted the strings were far too short to grasp for removal. My CNP referred me to a specialist. The cost will be increased for specialist visits and outpatient surgery. I felt the co-pay should be waived in light of the mistake on Chavez's part. Love said no, it was a normal risk. I did receive a paper outlining risks such as blood clots and that the device may come out. 'Strings cut too short by doctor' was not listed. Sadly Alice now claims that everything was fine at the follow up. The investigation revealed (according to lovelace) no documentation from Alice regarding the string mistake. I am saddened by what appears to be an untruth and I no longer trust lovelace. I was supposed to get a referral for lap-band surgery, but now my… GP's assistant cannot find a doctor who will take consult with me (I did say I would sue if the IUD perforates my uterus). I may well have been red flagged. Ah well, c'est la vie. On a side note she sent my daughter home with a postpartum infection claiming everything looked fine. Fortunately my daughter knows her body and was able to seek an alternate opinion before the infection spread.

Very caring and gentle. I barely knew she was doing the pelvic exam, so gentle!!
