Dr. Aliona Maxwell, MD

I was very pleased to find Dr. Maxwell. It's hard to find a good gynocologist and moving from up north, I realized I couldn't keep driving 3 hrs round trip to go to my old doctor. I was grateful to find her.

My mother called the number after hours , she was in excruciating pain and was bleeding heavily. This doctor was very annoyed she had to even call my mother back and all she could say was “ go to a chiropractor “. Turns out after a few tests my mother has stage IV uterine cancer. TERRIBLE

I saw Dr Maxwell for a routine exam and Pap smear. When I told her how badly the pap hurt, her response to me “it hurts everyone “. From that moment on I experienced excruciating pain and bleeding. After several trips to the ER and to a urologist who performed a bladder biopsy because my bladder was so red and inflamed, it was determined that I have bleeding in the lining of my bladder. It is 2 months later and I still have pain. When I wanted to go in and discuss this with the head of North Dover Ob-Gyn in Toms River NJ, I was told that I would have to pay for the appointment. I found that appalling. Especially since I am paying off over $1000 in medical bills already. Before seeing Dr. Maxwell I had a healthy bladder. Now there are many things I can’t do without pain.

Dr Maxwell is very personable and professional.

Docs are nice but staff is short, can't ever get anyone to answer the phone, waits for appointments are long, and even the answering service doesn't know why the staff doesnt answer the phones sometimes. Exam room decor needs updating. Flyers on waiting room bulletin board are MONTHS outdated.

Could not get in to see the owner of the practice as she was out on medical leave. I was having a lot of vaginal irritation and was told they could not see me for at least 3 wks. I was told to go see my GP. I called back a couple of days later and was able to get a cancellation. The exam was by far the worst I have ever experienced. Dr Maxwell was very rough with her exam. I ended up going to another Gyno 2 wks later who said I was inflamed inside. I think Dr Maxwell may have caused this with her rough exam and culture taking since I was not inflamed when I went there. Unfortunately I will not go back to that practice because I would not want to see her again. I always liked the owner of Woman to Woman.

When I found I was pregnant, I made an appoinement with Dr Maxwell. They got me into her Forked River office ASAP. She came into the exam room, asked a few questions and then proceeded with the examination. First of all, she didnt even tell me what she was going to be doing to me. This was my first pregnancy and I wasnt sure what they do during an office visit. She gave me an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy....and there the baby was! Amazing! I was overwhelmed with emotion. She printed out a picture, handed it to me and was going to walk out the door. I told her to wait a minute and asked her to tell me what she saw!! She said I would know more when I got my internal sonogram done. And that was that. She left me laying on the table, with sonogram jelly on my stomach, holding a pic of the baby, in shock. I went out to the receptionist, who made another appointment with me, handed me a HUGE folder with all this info. She was throwing all this medical lingo at me, I had NO idea what she… was talking about! Then she gives me a paper full of doctors names that are high risk docs and tells me to make an appointment. Dr Maxwell NEVER told me I was high risk. So why do I need to make an appoinment with one!? It was horrible. I left there sad the way I was treated after finding out I was pregnant. No congrats, no NOTHING! A few days late I switched out of that practice. And from what I hear MANY people have left. I DO NOT reccomend them at all!
