Dr. Allan Lewis Bernstein, MD

I have had a seizure disorder most of my life, and Dr. Bernstein is the first neurologist I have visited who combines his detailed knowledge with real care and communication. In very simple ways he helped clarify my treatment, and was incredibly supportive. I feel lucky to have him as my neurologist.

Dr Bernstein is a wonderful doctor. He always takes the time to explain his diagnosis and the reasons for his advice. He is highly intelligent and is constantly curious . Accordingly, he knows a great deal about a lot of neurological disorders and diseases. I see him for Parkinson's disease and I find him both knowledgeable and compassionate. The only downside to having him as a doctor is that he does not handle emergencies, so there is no one to respond to a neurological medical emergency such as Parkinson's. Also, I am told he no longer handles refills and wants his patients to ask their primary care doctors to perform this critical part of a doctor's job. I don't think many doctors will feel comfortable managing melds/refills for a disease they know little or nothing about.

Dr. Bernstein is by far the most knowledgeable and personable doctor I have met since moving to California in 2011.
