Dr. Allen Douglas Desena, MD

I saw Dr.Desena in charlotte nc. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2003 in NY. I had a bad relapse with the MS in 2019 in NC. He was very quick to tell me that I never had MS that I had a totally different disease called neuromyletis Optica. He very quickly blamed it on the drug I was taking for the MS. He put me on a new drug that was a semi new drug to the market. Every concern I had with the new he never really answered my questions. Then he decided to change my drug again. But then moved to a different practice. I went through a divorce and moved back to NY where my neurologist told me yes I do still have MS. This neurologist should have his license taken away for misdiagnosis. I wish I had the money to sue him. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DOCTOR!!

Dr. DeSena is a very thorough physician. He is extremely knowledgeable and practices top notch medicine. I am so glad he had offered me a great, supportive medical experience.

At first, I didn't want to face my diagnosis. I was difficult and didnt think i needed help nor did I trust any of my doctors. Long story short, I'm so grateful to Dr. Desena especially for giving me excellent care, showing me so much compassion and concern, and seeing me through the most difficult situations of my life. He is a very knowlegeable and caring doctor that I value. Highly recommended.

I've seen Dr. Desena at the Wadell MS Center four times now. I saw Dr. Maria Melanson at the center, but she left. Anyway, Dr. Desena flies into the exam room with his backpack on. He fires up the computer to bring your records up, but acts like he knows nothing about your case. He speaks VERY fast. My first appointment with him, he was rushed and condescending. When I told him to slow down, he got a little better and took more time with me. He doesn't explain things, and when you ask him questions about MS, many times his answer is "We don't know". He can be arrogant. Looking for a different neurologist!

Dr. Desena was very rude and has zero bedside manners. He was very degrading and belittling to me, and showed no empathy or compassion. His approach to my 15 month old daughter was very abrupt and made me uncomfortable.
