Dr. All is. kliwer is one of my favorite. My son is now 7 and she oversees his heart condition. Glad we have her on his care team. Thanks for all you do. Love the Jerry Owen Family

My 18 year old son with Tetrology of Fallot has been a patient of Dr. Kliewer since he was 1 day old. The comments regarding unknowledgeable are way off mark. Dr. Kliewer researched state of art treatment options to avoid a second open heart procedure at age 17. She is available to answer questions and consult on related treatment plans requiring surgery - eye, allergies, etc. Highly recommend.

I had an unforgettable experience with Dr. Kliewer. At ten days old my baby was diagnosed with a large VSD and we saw Dr. Kliewer nearly every week after that for 2 months. My baby had several echos and ekgs. After each echo Dr. Kliewer always found something else wrong. She told us his aorta was very overriding, his coronary arteries where in the wrong place, he had pulmonary stenosis, but somehow the surgeons would fix it, as if it was a huge deal. My baby was scheduled for a heart catherization with Dr. Kimberling and surgery would be right after that at St. Francis when Dr. Kliewer scheduled his next apt A MONTH later. She was not watching him adequately. He started sweating profusely, breathing fast, became irritable and unable to eat well. I called and her nurse spoke w/ Dr. Kliewer and called me back and told me I was a first time mom, emotional and that Dr. Kliewer thought he was doing just fine. I insisted something was wrong but she wouldn't listen. I knew something was… wrong and so I took him to his pcp and asked for a referral to OU Children's Hospital. When the pcp called Dr. Kliewer about my child's problems she said she hadn't believed me because in the past the baby was bundled up. That was simply untrue; I had never said he was sweating before then. It took two miserable (for my baby) weeks to get in to pcp and then to OU. But thank goodness we made that choice! The report from Dr. Baker at OU was much different. My baby has a medium vsd, not large but in a critical place next to a valve and needed surgery asap to prevent damage to the valve. We were never told this. Dr. Baker told us the mm size and knew the exact name of the VSD--a rare type called Supracrystal VSD. Dr. Kliewer never told us this. Dr. Baker said his aorta was just slightly overriding and his coronary arteries where perfect and he most likely didn't have pulmonary stenosis. And THERE WAS NO NEED TO DO A HEART CATHERIZATION!!! And he was on the wrong dosage of medication. He had outgrown his dose and was suffering the sweating and poor feeds because of it. Dr. Baker put him on the correct dosage and in just a day he was better. Dr. Baker said it would be a simple surgery and everything would be fine with just a 1-2 percent risk. This was not what Dr. Kliewer told us or insinuated. The level of knowledge Dr. Baker had was clearly five times more. Dr. Baker had all the OU cardiologists and the surgeon, Dr. Burkhart, review my son's case and sure enough everything was as she said. I can't believe my child almost went through an unnecessary invasive/risky catherization. Dr Kleiwer is nice but so not worth the lack of knowledge and the risk of misdiagnosis. Please do your child and yourself a favor and find another dr. I highly recommend OU Physicians.

Delayed my child's care and did not follow up on test results that were abnormal. When my child needed to be admitted for a heart problem, we did not see a cardiologist for 2 days. I cannot tolerate incompetence or laziness when it comes to my child's life and health, even though Dr. Kliewer is nice and calm and seems to communicate well...it is not worth it to miss important things.

Dr Kliewer did not examine my child on two consecutive visits, despite my requests and referral of her pediatrician. Said my child was FINE based on an echocardiogram, without any other appropriate tests. SHE WAS NOT FINE! She could have suffered permanent damage if the pediatrician hadn't sent us to another cardiologist, someone competent who was thorough and followed through until the problem was found and then treated. Dr. Kliewer is nice, but not when it comes to the health of my child.
