Dr. Allison Lewis Jacokes, MD

I have to agree with everyone else. I thought that it was just me, but Dr. Jacokes has no bedside manner. She's judgmental and unwelcoming. I hope that she finds a way to put her feelings on the back burner when she enters the examination room to deal with her patients. I have found help elsewhere.

Any woman over 30, this review would save you some time and frustration if booking with Dr. Jacokes. I understand all providers don't care to smile and some don't have welcoming personalities. However, as a patient and consumer, there is an expectation that a certain level of professionalism and customer service will be delivered by a provider. My overall experience included a lack of eye contact and overall lack of true interest in my care - the provider talked much of the time without looking directly at me, rattled off general information almost although she was annoyed or thought it was a waste of time. I appreciate the multitude of genetic tests and other tests that were ordered. I told the provider within the first few minutes of our discussion that I was a few days away from turning 40 years old but wanted to get pregnant. Without getting into how I felt by the end of the appointment, I will just say she doesn't need to be booked with any patient over 30 years old who desires… to be pregnant. She was so negative and I was hopeless by the time that I'd left. I've visited a few GYN clinics over the last 2 years since relocating to Raleigh and my goal is to find a good fit. None of my others were bad experiences but they weren't good fits. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a provider and I would never want another 'older' woman to go through what I experienced. I'm not embarrassed by my 'older' age coupled with the desire to get pregnant but the way she handled the appt., I felt it was her intention to ensure I didn't think getting pregnant at my age was a good idea. She even provided a recommendation to a fertility clinic so they could explore options with me - she talked about IVF and other things to improve fertility. I was in disbelief - the assumption that I couldn't or shouldn't somehow attempt to get pregnant naturally first. I will be following up on the referral because it wouldn't hurt but her approach to the reason for referring me was so insensitive. I hope she's close to retirement because she isn't good for anyone excited about planning a family, particularly 'older women.'

Dr J is not an easy doctor to talk to. She always seems rushed and is forgetful. I would not recommend her at all

I must say in my 50 plus years, this was one of my best experiences ever!! Dr Jacokes really listened to me and found the problem. I had been to several GYNs but no one really heard what I was saying and would just diagnose and prescribe according to their preconceived notions. Not with Dr Jacokes. I really appreciate having a doctor like her.

I have been a patient at Associates in Women's Healthcare for several years and one of the other doctors there delivered my first child (who by the way, was fabulous). For the past week, I have been going through a miscarriage and have had Dr. Jacokes as my doctor. If it weren't for the other 4 doctors in this practice and the sweet nurses, I would be out. She is rude, indecisive, and has horrid bedside manner. Word to the wise - when making an appointment at this practice, make sure you ask for any doctor BUT Dr. Jacokes.

I would recommend looking elsewhere for an OB/GYN. I had an early appointment, and didn't get out of the office until 2 hours after my scheduled time. No bedside manner. When it was clear that I was crying and upset, (because I heard her tell a nurse she didn't have time to talk to me about family planning) she was not caring. Just a frustrating morning with Dr. Jacokes, and I will not be seeing her again.
