Allison Yang, MD, MPH

Dr. Allison Yang is the Director of the Comprehensive Pancreas Program at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian. She is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and an attending gastroenterologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. A specialist in medical pancreatology, Dr. Yang focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of pancreatic diseases, including pancreatic cysts, acute and chronic pancreatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis (IgG4-related disease) and pancreatic cancer risk assessment, prevention and early detection.As Director of the Comprehensive Pancreas Program, Dr. Yang leads a multidisciplinary approach to pancreatic care, bringing together experts in gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy, pancreatic surgery, oncology, radiology, pathology and genetics. Her clinical practice emphasizes individualized risk assessment, evidence-based treatment and coordinated long-term care for patients with benign, precancerous and malignant pancreatic …conditions. She has particular expertise in pancreatic cyst surveillance, complex pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer screening for individuals with a family history or inherited genetic predisposition.Dr. Yang received her bachelor's degree from Columbia University, her medical degree from the University of Illinois and her Master of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her internal medicine residency at Mayo Clinic and her gastroenterology fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School.Her clinical and research interests focus on improving the diagnosis, risk stratification and management of pancreatic diseases, with particular emphasis on pancreatic cancer prevention and early detection. Her research includes pancreatic cyst risk assessment, emerging biomarkers for pancreatic cancer and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve pancreatic disease diagnosis and clinical decision-making.Dr. Yang is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). She has served in leadership and committee roles within national gastroenterology organizations, including the ACG Public Relations, Patient Care and Professionalism Committees and the AGA Pancreas Section.In addition to her pancreatic disease practice, Dr. Yang performs upper endoscopy and colonoscopy.
