Dr. Alric Devon Hawkins, MD

If I could give him zero start, I would. Dr. Hawkins is unprofessional, arrogant, biased, condescending, and so much more. He came by, not even knocking, just walking into the room, without any regard for what could have been going on. My mother was in the hospital for migraines, initially in the ER, (we later found out that her migrianes are hemicrania continua migraines that are the most painful and debilitating of all migraines, from a seperate doctor not at this hopsital). My mother is 51 and has three children, she has been having hemicrania continua migraines, almost all of her adult life, but never to this extent of pain, and we did not know at the time what they were, only that her migraines were excruciating and no medicine would help her. When he came by he intentionally tried to provoke specific answers from my mother, with questions that, I felt, were invasive and offensive. This was all while she was on medication that made her very tired and at times unable to speak. The… answers that he wanted from my mother based on the specific questions he was asking, lead him to try and succeed in accusing her of depression, which she does not have. When she and I tried to explain what her situation was and what the pain was like on an day to day basis, hoping for maybe a consultation for pain managment, he then started to say that this was all in her head and the pain she was experiencing was not real and she was making this up. Following this we found out this was the opposite of what he thought and said. Her pain is very much real or else I would not have got an ambulance for her or taken her to the hospital. He refused to listen to what she and I were saying and continued on with what he thought of the situation, without ever actually listening to the situation. After he finished accusing her of being depressed and making up the pain, he tried to prescribe anti-depressants, cymbalta, to her, which again she has no need for. He put in her permanent file that she is depressed as well. This treatment from him made it very clear that he did not care at all about her situation or what was going on with her. The hospital in general appeared to further perpetuate this atmosphere of not listening or actually caring for my mother, their patient. While I understand there are many other patients in the hospital at a time, I would think that while a doctor is with a patient, they would be giving their full attention to her and would be willing to listen to her side. If my mother ever needs to go to the hospital again, I will not be taking her to Methodist and I will certainly not be allowing her to see Dr. Hawkins ever again, I do not care if the hospital orders him or sent him to talk to her.

He should be fired !

Very unprofessional egocentric doctor. Biased and sentimental in judgement. Needs to revise his ethics of medicine textbook. Brings residents to meet patients without first asking for the patient conscent.

Never go to this psychiatrist. Very unprofessional. Brings residents to see patients without the patient consent first. Arrogant, poor medical ethics, sentimental and biased in judgement.

Dr. Hawkins did absolutely nothing to help my son, who was a patient at Methodist for 5 days. What he did do well, was to overmedicate my son, placing him on 6 different meds to treat only the diagnosis of depression. My son left the same way he came into the psych unit at Methodist, depressed. I would never refer Dr. Hawkins to anyone. He was very arrogant and condescending to my son.

This abomination of a dr aggressively barged into my private room at Methodist Hospital with 4 residents, never asked for permission to speak with me, and proceeded to disregard my and my mother’s politely repeated wishes for him to leave. When I became agitated that he was violating my boundaries by refusing to leave, he became hostile, unprofessionally passive-aggressive (rolling his eyes, disregarding my requests for him to leave, and then intentionally tried to provoke me by ignoring my direct answers to his incessant, invasive, shockingly offensive and inappropriate questions, and instead rolling his eyes and asking my mother the same questions he asked me when I clearly and articulately answered his questions (I’m 38 yrs old btw and fully capable of answering questions regarding myself). He did this right in front of me, to both my mother’s shock and dismay as well as my own. He disrespected my elderly mother just as much as he disrespected me. He was condescending, arrogant,… unprofessional, and highly inappropriate. I felt extremely uncomfortable in the presence of this creepy man who rudely refused to leave my private room while I was barely clothed. When I tried to get past him to go to the bathroom (I have a small bowel obstruction btw), he refused to move his enormous body so that I had to brush up against him in order to get by. So creepy. I left the hospital just to get away from this guy. Definitely filing a complaint against this creepy psycho when I leave my new hospital. No patient should ever be treated in the manner I was and I’ll see to it that no one is. That kind of behavior is inexcusable.

This individual orders my room locked from 8am-6pm, due to my not attending group meetings-community meetings were repetitious and certain ones I just desired not to attend. I was forced to walk back and forth through the corridor of the mental ward for 10 hours daily. After a few days, I pleaded ot be allowed to rest in my room like the other patients. He screamed, "No, and you're going to start getting shots!" I left the room upset and hurt, saying nothing. There was no reason for me to be treated in this manner. After viewing my medical records, I discovered that he had lied and stated that I agreed to the shots of Invega. Immediately afterwards, I began to have wavy lines in my vision. Regular eye exams would not reveal anything; however, an ERG found retinal damage. The lines have been going on for a few years now; but the proof of damage was just recently discovered. His belligerent behavior and uncaring attitude, is not indicative of the Methodist Hospital System. Something must… be done. Note: It appears that one must leave a rating in order to post a review. "1" star represents HIGHLY DISSATIFIED. He's not even worthy of that.

Dr. Hawkins is a complete egotistical bully . He should not be allowed to practice Psychiatry ever.

Alric Hawkins is one of the doctors at Methodist Hospital (Downtown) at Psychiatric Unit. My sister was admitted to the hospital at Psychiatric Care. Dr. Hawkins gave Risperidone for my sister to take. We had some questions for Dr. Hawkins about my sister and the medicine Risperidone. But he never met us. So he never directly asked us any questions about my sister's condition. Within next 2 to 3 weeks, my sister's condition grew "far worse" than before. Risperidone made her prolactin level higher than 120. Please do not take this doctor. He will not talk to you or bother to help you at all. How can we depend on a doctor like him who never bothered to properly find out the psychiatric condition of a patient without proper observation and without asking any questions to the patient and people with the patient? My advise is please avoid this doctor at all costs! It will only increase your financial problems and also no recovery to the patient at all.
