Dr. Alwin Carl Lewis, MD

I think he is crazy. He professes that Dr Oz supports the bite diet, but Dr Oz does not. I made my husband stop going to him. He went to Dr Lewis as primary physician, but all he wanted to talk about was his bite diet, and wanted us to buy his book.

Yes, he focuses on weight loss/gain being the top preventive for most disease, but even slim me has benefitted greatly from his five-bites example. He respects the fact that I would prefer to lose weight or exercise differently rather than take prescribed pharmaceuticals, so the past fifteen years' in his practice have been a dream.

He seems alright only seen him once seeing him again tomorrow my Grandmother sees him for the first time tomorrow. He's big into prevention

Dr Lewis tells it like it is

This is a quack doctor who seems to care more about promoting his book on weight loss than treating patients. He related everything back to weight loss, not addressing the patient's main complaint. He seemed angry over the phone and displayed misogyny toward the female caller. I'm considering reporting him to the AMA.

I was referred to Dr. Lewis for weight loss assistance. My doctor at the time was pushing gastric bypass, and I wasn't a big fan of major surgery, even though I knew I needed to do something. When Dr. Lewis first outlined his 5 bite plan, I honestly thought he was a bit nuts. But...I tried it, figuring I had nothing to lose but extra weight, and that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Long story short...I lost 17 pounds the first week. I was ecstatic, and continue still to work with him. He is a zealot when it comes to weight loss, for sure. But..he has his patient's best interest at heart. He spends time with me talking about my experience and never makes me feel rushed. His office staff and nurse are also patient, friendly, and helpful...I like them both alot. To date, I have lost about 115 pounds, and counting. Dr. Lewis is now my primary care physician, and I am very happy with the service he provides.

Doctor Alwin Lewis was 1 hour late. I told the secretary off & to not bill me and I walked out. This doctor needs to be terminated from blue cross for being flippant to his clients. "" DON'T GO THIS THIS DOCTOR because he will show up when ever his feels like it.

Overall, he does what he is supposed to do. Diagnose, give referrals, and treat. Polite, straight forward, and good at what he does. Our entire family has been with him for years. Personally, I like the guy.

I am only a former patient because I moved out of state. Dr Lewis and his father were my doctors for 15 years. I really wish I could have taken him with me when I moved. I never felt like he was not listening and he was the catalyst in diagnosing my medical problem. He pointed me in the right direction for the right ob-gym and my problems ended. Thank you for all you have done for me and anyone who gets him as a physician, is very fortunate. He does and will listen to you. Eternally grateful!

best thing about dr lewis is that he does refer you out for tests and specialists. isn't very thorough and always seems rushed. spends more time promoting himself and his book, then talking to patient about their concerns.
