Dr. Amanda Lauren Dempsey, MD

After a work accident almost completely amputated my finger, I was treated by Dr. Dempsey and her staff. Fifteen months of therapy, surgery and evaluation and I could not be more impressed. She was always professional while taking time to share information, opinions and treatment options despite the demands of running a busy practice. Her staff also deserves recognition for their timely and professional manner.

I do not understand the good reviews. Dr. Dempsey may be a good surgeon - and I did not go that route, but she doesn’t instill trust. I believe wholeheartedly in the efficacy and trust-building that a good bedside manner fosters for a patient. In addition to being late for my appointments, Dr. Dempsey does not show compassion or concern, in my experience. She doesn’t engage in conversation, appears impatient and bothered and doesn’t show a desire to listen. The staff is for 50% lukewarm as well. I

Dr. Dempsey is never on time with an appointment in my two visits with her. On both occasions, the wait was an hour for one and 45 minutes for the other. She seemed impatient in answering questions. Her office is chaotic. The phone system does not has has not worked properly for over a month (voice mail does not work and the prompts do not work). Dr. Dempsey does not respond to messages through the Emory patient portal. When asked what tests would be required for surgery, she responded that she "didn't know". What surgeon does not know what tests will be required for surgery? It isn't that there is insufficient help--the office is teeming with workers. The practice does not inspire confidence.

My wife and I both visited Dr. Dempsey this morning. We both receive excellent service from the Dr. and her staff. Thank you all for a GREAT visit. Look forward to using you in the future if the need arises.

NO! not listen to patient, made many malpractice errors. Did not respect my patient rights! I said no three times, however she tried to reduce my arm against my will! It went wrong. within a week I had to return due to severe pain & I knew something was wrong. The reduction had slipped out of place 30% more than the original broken arm.If you value your life don� visit her.

Earlier this year I 95% severed my left pinky in a freak accident. It completely severed one artery, and the entire bone, tendon and nerve. After receiving emergency medical treatment, I was referred to Dr. Dempsey. Walking into her office, I found she had spent the entire weekend looking at my x-rays and photos of the damaged finger. She performed surgery two days later and has been seeing me routinely since then. She has been phenomenal with my care and treatment ever since, talking me through things ever step of the way and showing total dedication to my recovery process. I cannot say enough good things about her as a surgeon and as a medical professional, and I highly recommend her!
