I have PTSD as a result of long term abuse from mental health care providers. Therapy is definitely a trigger which makes it extremely difficult for me to receive help in coping with my experiences. For medical reasons I’m unable to take medications and have little to no support. This has increased my difficulties. I turned to Dr. Lorenz with an understanding that she had experience in my type of trauma. During our 2nd session she wanted me to start an intense therapeutic day program 5 days a week. I was severely triggered. The intensity of it lasted over a week. It effected me in a way that not only concerned me but it did another health care professional. Unable to contact my medical dr. I called her with fear of what was happening. Her response came in a text. “Your not going crazy. You have gone through bad times. Trust the part of you that knows this” The question was not my sanity. For someone that specializes in trauma I found her approach to have been careless and harmful.… She may have knowledge of trauma but her ability to actually help those who suffered from it is highly questionable.
