Dr. Amaryllis E Sanchez Wohlever, MD

It has taken me 2 years to write this review. I saw Dr. Sanchez for my first gynecological exam in 2017. I chose to get the exam because I was interested in my options for birth control and STD testing. I left that facility in tears, guilt, and a sense of disgust for myself because of her words. After dressing down and into the smock, Dr. Sanchez made snide remarks regarding my sexual history. She also made unsolicited remarks about my two tattoos and physically touch the areas where they were located without my consent. After the exam was complete, she continued her lecture about Christianity and my salvation. She gave me the results for the pap-smear (which turned out to be a misdiagnosis) and recounted a story of her time in residency treated AIDS patients. Comparing my history to those patients and saying that I would end up like them. Dr. Sanchez repeated made unsolicited comments that were so incredibly demeaning. This was the first time I had ever been to a gynecologist. I had… not really understood of my own body and I was terrified. The real reason went to see her was because I was a victim of sexual assault. At this point, I was already so depressed and blamed myself. Dr. Sanchez validated everything I was told about myself as well as what I was thinking. I later went to 2 other gynecologists as well as a specialist with Winnie Palmer Hospital. All of whom reassured me that my assault was not my fault. The also stated that I was misdiagnosed and that Dr. Sanchez's recommendation for a biopsy had no reasoning. I would never recommend Dr. Sanchez to anyone. Her complete disregard for my rights, beliefs, and feelings was completely unprofessional. I hope that since I last saw her she has gained some sense of reality.
