Dr Amir Ali Rahnavard, MD

I am a physician myself who sustained multiple, significant orthopedic injuries during a lifetime of recreational athletics and 20 years training and racing as an Ironman triathlete. I had a significant exacerbation of old injuries 4 years ago which left me unable to functionally use my left foot to walk. I have seen over a dozen physicians on the peninsula, at Stanford, in the Bay area and as far as LA. None have been able to determine the cause of my ambulation difficulties, more important none have been able to provide sufficient guidance to the 6 physical therapist I have seen with little progress. What sets Dr. Rahnavard apart is he knows the human body both as a physician and as a high-level former athlete. While most other physicians sat back scratching their heads just looking at CTs and MRIs, Dr Rahnavard's careful and attentive probing of my symptoms clearly showed to me he was able to relate the current symptoms to the multiple injuries I described, and use his own… understanding and familiarity with his body as an athlete in action to raise possibilities of what was malfunctioning for me. He provided a few simple exercises at the first visit that were right on target and helped. Today, he prescribed a few more. I have been doing 2 hours of exercises a dat for 4 years with little benefit. I finally have confidence someone is guiding the ship. Dr. Rahnavard being able to effectively address complicated chronic injuries bodes well for others who have complex and multiple injuries, as well as for those with more tractable complaints.

This physician while he may be qualified by licensing, he is not experienced. He did not listen and did not look my patient medication list to check for those things that I do not tolerate. Do yourself a favor and go to someone who has experience and will not be "practicing " on you. Montouge system has a terrible practice of hiring new physicians right out of school because they are desparate.
