I have never had eye issues nor needed glasses/contacts in my life. Because of this, I was not really familiar with any local eye doctors. When I startEd experiencing eye pain and redness a few weeks ago, I booked an appointment here because they had easy online booking and availability that day. Let's just say, I am lucky to still have my sight in my right eye. On my first visit, the doctor (Amit Bhambri) told me that it was a small viral infection in my right eye that did not need any treatment besides over the counter eye drops. I thought this was a little odd due to the extreme pain I was experiencing, but I took his word for it. For two days, I used the drops. On the third day (a Sunday) the pain was so unbearable I considered driving myself to the ER in the middle of the night. I decided to suffer through it because I don't want to be filling up ER beds during this crazy time when people beed them more than ever. I called the office first thing Monday morning. I saw the same… doctor that day. He did acknowledge that my eye did look worse, but still said it was a viral infection. This time, he prescribed me a drop that was a steroid and antibiotic (The same medicine he told me two days prior would not work for a viral infection). This just did not seem right to me. I tried the drops for one day, and the pain just kept getting worse. It was totally unbearable and my vision was starting to get very blurry. I decided to call another, more legit eye doctor in the area. He told me to come in immediately, even though it was a day he didn't typically see patients. He said it sounded like it could be an emergency. He was right! Turns out, I have iritis, which is neither viral or bacterial. It is also not contagious like the previous doctor told me it was. He said it is very serious and needed some extremely strong meds right away. And will most likely need meds for many weeks If not months (very serious!) He said the drop I was prescribed by Snooki was not doing anything at all for the condition or the pain. He was also totally shocked that the doctor at Shopko originally told me to use only over the counter drops for dry eyes. It has only been two days since starting two new drops from the second doctor and it is a MAJOR difference. The pain is totally bearable, and my eye is clearing up nicely. The doctor I switched too is also having me come in every 3 days to check on it. He said this condition can take weeks/months to completely heal and is very serious. He said if I had continued with the treatment the doctor at Shopko put me on, I could have severely damaged or even LOST sight in my right eye. SO terrifying for someone who has never had a single eye issue in the past. Moral of this long story... DO NOT trust the doctor at Shopko! Totally wrong and could have caused me my sight. Lesson learned on my part.
