Dr. Amitabh Yashvant Shukla, MD

Most unprofessional doctor I've been to in all my years. Thinks he's an insurance expert that works for Blue Cross Blue Shield. More worried about charging the patient the correct amount, based on insurance co-pays, than the patient. If you have a choice, don't go to this Doctor!

I have been to a lot of doctors over the last 40 years. This is by and far the worst one I have ever seen. I was told to be there 10 minutes before my appointment. They weren't back from lunch until my appointment time. I signed in and waited 20 minutes for the staff to acknowledge I was there. The first thing they said to me was "have you finished your paperwork?" I told them they hadn't given me anything to fill out but that wasn't necessary as I filled the paperwork out online. The price I was given over the phone was double the amount quoted. They claimed to be in network but charged me like I was out of network. When I told them that they were using the wrong benefits, the condencending doctor tried to tell me how insurance worked. I've been the plan administrator at my work for the last 17 years. When I told him that, he actually said, "I don't know the level of education I'm working with." (implying that I am stupid!) He and his staff refused to run my insurance again even… though I told them more than once that the benefits they had listed were wrong. I asked at least twice if this man was contracted with my insurance company and plan and "in network". He nodded once and said yes the second time. They also refused to take a check for payment. They refused to explain the charges to me. I got a written receipt from them. I have had the test before and he made it more painful than it had to be. The test results confirmed what my doctor had already told me. No new info there! The doctor talked down to me the entire time I was there. He was so rude! If my surgeon hadn't already diagnosed me with carpal tunnel syndrome, I wouldn't have believed Dr Shukla's test results! I'm not sure where the good reviews on this guy come from but I wouldn't be surprised if they were fake. I never took reviews very seriously before this but you can bet I will in the future. I wouldn't go back to Dr. Shukla even if he was the last doctor on this planet!

I saw him when I was admitted to Oak Bend a few years ago. I was diagnosed with colitis, but I had briefly passed out, so they wanted me to be evaluated by a neurologist. He wanted me to turn over my car keys and stop driving for 6 months! He kept saying I had a seizure, even though I have never had a seizure and had an MRI at the hospital which ruled out any neurological issues. He was very adamant that I stop driving even though my diagnosis had absolutely nothing to do with my brain. I had colitis! I found him very chauvinistic and condescending. No way would I ever see him again. He refused to listen to my explanation of what happened. Once the MRI results came in, he never came by my room again. This was several years ago, and I have had absolutely no neurological issues since.

Choose this doctor if you want to be a dummy and completely believe what he says. God help you if you ask a follow-up question or ask him to explain again what the problem is. He will mock and make fun of you. He is okay as long as you blindly listen to what he says. I did not receive any relief from my visits to him, got just a general description of "this could be the problem" he was not certain what it was. I will be seeing another Neurologist . Totally bad experience.

Not likely to recommend. The office staff is beyond horrendous. They never call back, mess up the paper work and in general treat patients badly. They act as if you are bothering them when contacted. Save you’re self the misery and find another doctor. You are already sick and don’t need more pain in your life. The doctor itself is good but that does not help with bad front office and bad management, the doctor must be aware of this and chooses to ignore it otherwise he needs to do a better job of providing better service.

I'm glad I found this page to review this doctor . I went to see him for severe nape and back pain he did a lot of procedures to come out w/ a diagnosis and the last one he did was electro myelogram part 2 w/c according to the technician involves needle test and I need to remove my underwear? I said why the technician said that's what he wants. I was so hesitant to do it because I see no relevant reason since underwear has no metal that might interrupt the electrical whatever since it involves current. But any I removed it because I need this pain to be removed but I was uncomfortable not w/ the needle pains but w/ the thought that it is not right and just because i I need to have remedy if not completely get cured of this pain. Fortunately he did nothing bad it's just that he is only peeping inside every now and then and after all the tests he perform including MRI. he said you have arthritis of the spine and went home only w/ prescription of naproxen a pain reliever. Aside from… the ill mannered Doctor his staff are as rude as he is. They told me to go back on a certain day and I have to leave work for the days appointment only to tell me that they see patient on that day. Very horrible ! This dr. Don't deserve a star but it has no option. I will give him a star w/o a light .

I agree with all the negative comments and I believe it's his stuff or himself giving 5 stars. IMO he doesn't deserve a single star. He doesn't listen, and very opinionatedHe even yelled at me saying there is no such thing as Fibromyalgia... and when I said I have lots of pain, he said go take a tylanol! I don't know if just to laugh or cry... What a waist of time and energy! People, find another neurologist, He isn't the one to help you! I gave 1 star because there was no negative!

I was sent to Dr. Shukla because my RLS had progressed to lasting 15 hours or more and almost total incapacitation during the painful attacks. - inability to sit or lie down and danger of falling when walking because legs would collapse. He dismissed it as "Rls is just a little leg movement."

This was a mistake choosing him as a neurologist. He did not listen to us for our concern and only he was talking and not suppose to ask him any questions or concerns . He did not return my phone calls for serious problems and did not do complete diagnosis. He wasted our too much time between appointments. He has no manners how to talk to patients. He did not give our test reports also.
