Completely thorough and easy to trust. Great with the kids -bedside manner helps the un-easiness of visits especially visits that require shots.

Even in the current environment where doctors face the pressure to see many patients in short periods of time Dr. Demattia approaches practicing medicine as an art form. She was meant to be a pediatrician; she cares; she is a consummate professional in emotional situations, and a decent human being. My child adores her, looks up to her. Whether you are a new parent, need a referral to a specialist, are up at night with a feverish child, or have any pediatric crisis, you will be pleased to have her advice and care.

We recently moved out of the city and Dr. Demattia is one of the things we miss the most! She is wonderful combination of warm bedside manner and excellent clinical skills - a RARE combo! She is easy to talk to, great with kids (but not overly silly and annoying with them), and my son actually asks to go back and see her. She spends all the time you need in the room and welcomes any questions. The practice itself is really good, and they will always fit you in same day for a sick visit.

Dr. Amy gave my son 2 shots of MMR vaccine on the same day by accident. He was 1 year old at the time. He is almost 4 now and has developmental delay (no speech). This was documented in his medical record and we just discovered it recently while we were searching for possible clues to his learning problem.

Dr. Demattia is a wonderful pediatrian. She is so gentle with my newborn and really takes the time to answer all the questions I have as a new parent. She is approachable, knowledgeable and very warm. As a typical, overly concerned first time mother, I called the office when it was closed because I was concerned that my newborn had not peed in over 9 hrs. She personally called me back within 15mins. My baby had peed within that time- I was embarrassed and felt silly for wasting her time. She did not make me feel stupid at all and explained that after several weeks infants develop better bladder control so i don't need to worry. Also, I have been reading a lot about the possible benefit of spacing out vaccinations for infants. When I broached this subject with her, she shared her medical opinion that she did not believe it was necessary and explained why it was beneficial to follow the standard administration. With that said, she was perfectly willing to space the vaccinations a part… if I wanted too. She was not pushy or judgemental at all. I also really like that the practice has an on hand lactation consultant. They also really advocate for what is in the best interest of not only the baby, but the mother's needs/preferences are. They don't push exclusive breastfeeding. I really could not say enough positive things about Westside pediatrics and Dr, Demattia

She is an excellent doctor. My husband and I are very happy that she is our son's pediatrician. As first time parents, we were very nervous but we felt completely comfortable and pleased the first time we talked to her. She is very knowledgeable, always treats us with respect and listen to us. She is very sweet and we just love her! We never felt rushed during our appointments and we have waited 5 or 10 minutes maximum. I have called many times to her office (at all kind of hours) with questions and she replies right away. If she is not available, other doctors or nurses call me back (so far, great experience with all of them as well). Even the staff is pleasant. Oh, and they have seen my son the same day without appointment if I was concerned and wanted him to be checked out. I highly recommend Dr. DeMattia!

Dr. Demattia is great doctor. She cared for both of our children since birth. She is so great that as we have just moved to the suburbs and are faced with finding a pediatrician , we are so hesitant to select one because its hard to match Dr. Demattia. She has a really fun bedside manner with the kids, gives practical and understanding advice and was thorough with our issues. She has energy and patience with all our questions. We also had positive experiences with the other pediatricians in the practice and were usually seen when needed and were handled efficiently when hospital visits were required (even in the middle of the night) . They dont overprescribe antibiotics but do prescribe them when needed and they were supportive with our asthma issues and other situations that came up . The nurse practitioners were also supportive with treatment advice (fevers, breathing problems, eczema etc). Best of all she has evening hours once per week, so both my husband and I were able to… take the kids for well visits together after work since they were born. I would highly recommend Dr. Demattia to anyone looking for excellent pediatric care.

Dr. DeMattia is outstanding in both skill and bedside manner. She takes time to listen and address any concerns/questions at well-patient visits and is also excellent at diagnosing more serious illnesses (after two other doctors missed it, she caught the fact that our daughter had something very serious, and it turned out to be pneumonia which required three days in the hospital). Her demeanor with children is so good that our daughter actually WANTS to go to the doctor. 'Nuff said.
