She straight up told me that she didn't know why I was seeing her because my GP had already prescribed medication for me. Gee, maybe because she's not a psychiatric specialist and I thought a psychiatrist overseeing my care and treatment would make more sense...? She also did not seem to have understanding or knowledge of my condition, although in some fairness (which really isn't fair at all), I've been more knowledgeable about my condition, treatments, and contemporary research related to it than every psychiatrist I've ever seen except one. She actually asked why I thought I could possibly have my condition when I have a masters degree - when I asked her if she thought people with my condition are unable to succeed in higher education, she quickly said no of course not, and moved on. She prescribed one medication that gave me horrible side effects and did not provide any benefit. When I mentioned this to her, she suggested halving the dose... yeah, I don't think she has any idea… what she's doing.

Being a psych nurse, one would expect compassion. Couldn't be further from the truth. Very negative experience. Lack of empathy and listening skills.
