Dr. Amy Elizabeth Slear, MD

Actually enjoyed my visit. She is sweet, caring and thorough derm. Checked me from head to toe, with a gentle hand.

Had my first visit with Dr. Slear today and while I had to wait almost an hour to see her (the reason for only 4 stars), I found her to be very personable, easy to talk to, very knowledgeable and caring. Her assistants were also personable and caring and she did apologize to me for the wait. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

Dr. Slear is my favorite doctor (and at age 63 I have known too many!). She is remarkably intelligent, caring, patient, and truly a gifted "old fashioned" doctor. And she's very pretty! She is wise and places the patient before any monetary gains. I almost feel like calling her before I make any major business or life decisions! I highly recommend Dr. Slear.

I recommend Dr. Slear VERY highly. She's cheerful, polite, professional, caring and very smart--a great beside manner. It was easy to get an appointment, and her new office is quite lovely. Do note that her address is different from the one listed on this site.

The most caring and empathetic doctor I have ever had in all my 75 years/

I had oozing sores and skin infections and rashes gradually spreading all over my body. I tried my primary care doc, with a recommendation something along the lines of, "I think it is X, but can't rule out Y, so I'd really prefer you to see a dermatologist." Every dermatologist for whom I'd gotten a referral was either out of town at some conference, or else only had an appointment available several weeks to a month from now. (If I could schedule ahead of time when I'm gonna be sick, then I'd also be able to plan well enough to prevent the condition from happening in the first place.) I tried a non-dermatologist who was willing to take a crack at it after I explained my difficulty in seeing a dermatologist. While the initial sites cleared up, it was kind of like that whack-a-mole game. One site would clear up, only to have another erupt. It finally got so bad that I went to an E.R. and found myself in a containment room. They had at least 4-5 different doctors come in to… examine me over a period of about 4 hours. They declined to make a diagnosis, but they called around for a dermatologist who would let me come in for a next day appointment.I live in Queens, NYC, but was willing to travel all the way out to Dr.Slear's office on Long Island.I am so glad to have been referred to Dr. Slear. After her exam, and prescribing of a collection of meds, within a week there had been a dramatic improvement in clearing of the lesions all over my body. Additionally, there is absolutely zero arrogance; while her kind manner helped to calm a patient who was getting seriously stressed out about a condition that didn't seem fully responsive to treatments from other doctors.Words really don't do justice to the extent of gratitude and relief I feel about having been healed by Dr. Slear.
