Dr. Amy Jeanne Thorsen, MD

My 1st time meeting Dr Thorsen i felt like she was a little short and dismissive and didn't think I would like her. I had a complicated medical history and needed surgery but was too overweight so she referred me to weight management for surgery as I'd been trying to get approved for almost 10 years. After weight loss surgery I continued to follow up with Dr Thorsen on my other medical issue and she was able to do the surgery in cooperation with a plastic surgeon. Then she found that I had a prolapse and corrected that as well. She has been so supportive of my journey and has been a huge cheerleader. I wouldn't trust anyone else to make the repairs she did.

I highly recommend avoiding this doctor at all costs. She is Contracted to work for clinics. She has zero communication with patients and when something serious is found she will refuse to answer your questions if she bothers to message you. you can't ever get a hold of her though because she doesn't work at the clinics she does procedures at because she is contracted, she does whatever she wants at your procedure than leaves without informing you on what to do next. if precancer is found she picks an inaccurate date for a repeat colonoscopy without asking and knowing symptoms or family history. But because she is contracted you can make a complaint to the manager of the clinic all day, but nothing will be done because she doesn't work there.

My mom was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer and Dr Thorsen has been amazing through it all. She has gone above and beyond and made sure everything was done correctly and efficiently. She was able to explain everything to my mother so she understood and took the time that was needed for her to process. Her bedside manner is amazing and she truly treats her patients as if they are her own family members.

I am pleased with the outcome of the surgery performed by Dr. Thorsen. I was cared for in the hospital for three days and she perswonally visited twice, which I felt was adequate. She is somewhat non-emotional and is more retrospective. She answered any questions I had and I would recommend her to others.

I saw Dr. Thorsen because of rectal obstruction. She said that nothing can be done. I went to another surgeon and he released the kink in the rectum surgically so the symptoms went away.

I have no reason to doubt Thorsen is a competent surgeon, but she has a cold, impersonal, unsympathetic manner that might work if everything goes smoothly. But if there are complications, don't expect much engagement or empathy - it doesn't seem to be her style.

does not listen to patients, did not do a complete surgery, only partial, and now I will have to have an additional surgery in the future. She had no explanation as to why she didn't do the complete surgery we talked about and agreed on. Cold, impersonal, does not see patients in the pre-op area prior to the surgery.
