Dr. Andrew Eric Burg, MD

Should be ZERO stars. Terrible office - rude and unprofessional. The staff mostly the front desk, with the exception of one person at 'check in', as well as clinical, are incompetent. This wasn't always the case, however, they can't seem to keep good help, and so care, skill, and compassion have gone out the door! Doctor also in a hurry, doesn't listen or respect the patient or their caregiver. In a rush all the time. Pretty much said, "Go find another physician". Read the reviews.

I made my physical appointment about two months ago. There was no opening anytime soon so I waited two months. Then I had a call the day before my appointment that the doctor was sick and need to be scheduled. I thought they could give me a quicker appointment day because I waited TWO months , but it was wrong. They said there is NO morning opening until mid Jun. I really feel that they don't care patients.

I never even made it past the phone call to know I would not go here. I called with questions about being a first visitor. Not only was she not helpful, the entire conversation (as short as it was) sounded like I was bothering her. For example, when I asked about setting up a first visit for a wellness check-up the response "Well we don't do that on the first visit" I asked, what do I need to do "You need to setup an appointment first then come back again" I asked when I could do that, she responded "When we have availability" At that point I ended the conversation to look somewhere else.

Dr. Burg first and foremost has been the best doctor I’ve ever seen! He sits and actually talks and listens to you! He’s not a quick in and out doctor and you can tell he really is passionate about his work! I also feel he’s saved my life! If he hadn’t suggested doing a procedure after other doctors said not to, I would have had to deal with cancer. Overall, amazing experience with him and his staff! Hope he never leaves this area!

Dr. Burg is not a good person. I currently had to fly to Florida to be with my father due to a serious surgery. This began with a misdiagnosis from Dr. Burg which, to a certain degree, I can understand can happen. However, the part I cannot forgive is the way he spoke to my mother via a voicemail where he belittled her and never followed up on my father after this surgery. The only reason I haven’t gone further with this was because of a promise I made to my parents. This doctor feeds on the elderly and truly does not care if they live or die. There are many doctors in the area and I highly suggest you don’t go to this one or let your parents go to him.

We trusted Dr Burg, I use the term doctor loosely, failed us. Ill never forgive myself for allowing him to treat my father. Everyone in my family, myself included, have varying levels of college degrees in nursing. First Dr Burg didnt take appropriate action when my father presented signs of cancer at 62. He knew my father had many illnesses, including a precancerous condition. We lost many valuable days. Dr. Burg should have immediately done a direct admission to a hospital and ordered a stat endoscopy. Instead he gave us referrals to a GI specialist and for a swallow study at our convenience. Despite the fact that my father was losing 3 to 4 lbs of bodyweight per day. We were all in shock but we trusted this physicians treatment plan. Stage 4 cancer was discovered about two weeks out from our visit with dr Burg. From diagnosis to death my father lived 26 days. Dr Burg didnt even come see my father at Manatee Memorial. Dad died from Sepsis caused by his cancer. He might have had a… chance had Dr Burg reacted swiftly. As my father was dying, dr burg blamed my father for not taking proton pump inhibitors. He looked me in the eyes and said this to me, thats some serious nerve to say to someone, let alone another medical professional. He was Incorrect, my mother is a nurse and my father was always compliant with his GERD medications. He modified his diet to be compliant and exercised as much as he was able, which wasnt much because of other health conditions. Dad wanted to live. We all place at least partial blame on Andrew Burg and we always will.

Dr Burg is a fantastic Dr. It’s a shame he can’t find a staff that is equal to his high standards. It has taken repeated calls to get answers from the Dr. Burg because his staff doesn’t follow through with requests. Because of those I’ve had to leave him.

Dr. Burg is a caring and capable physician. He actually listens to patients, and does his best to help them. He's also a really nice guy, very easy to to talk to and deal with. He also tries to pull together the reports form various specialists you may have seen, to keep track of your total health. He's a rare find these day.

I chose Dr. Burg because of the reviews that I had found on him and I am so happy I did. He was thorough, kind, listened well and took action. So thankful to have finally found a good doctor!

Dr. Burg is the first Primary Doctor that has more than met my expectations. He spends time with me, answers all questions, laughs with me and is an all around very pleasant gentleman. He just makes you relax! His staff is also very pleasant and they are there for you as well!
