He completed a residency in otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Eye & Ear Foundation of Pittsburgh. He earned a master's degree in clinical epidemiology and completed a fellowship in the clinical epidemiology of cancer at the University of Pennsylvania.Goldberg is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
