Dr. Andrew Curran Karich, MD

I saw Dr. Karich in March of 2023 for a second opinion on right shoulder replacement surgery. At first I was disappointed in that I was sure I needed replacement surgery, but Dr. Karich told me to trust in his diagnosis and told me that I didn’t need replacement surgery. I’ve received my first shoulder injection and my right shoulder is back to being better than ever. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Karich was honest with me and not trying to push me into a surgery I didn’t need at this time.

Support staff is wonderful. Dr. Karich may be a great Orthopefist, but we felt he lacked empathy. Injuries are personal and can be concerning and life changing. We always go to St. Jude because of the great care from the doctors. This doctor had a poor bedside manner, seemed rushed, did not spend much time with us, did not take time to explain things, did not give reviews of X-rays, did not leave opportunity for questions. Bad experience. We went to another Orthopedist through a different provider…..much better experience and answers.

Dr. Karich is one of if not the finest of St. Jude doctors I have gone to. He is very profession, polite and personable in my experience with him. As a result of him looking closer at a test that was done prior to seeing him and then having him order another one to confirm he helped prevent me from having a surgery. In my experience with this doctor he took his time, he was caring and reassuring about my circumstances and took the time to explain and answer all my questions I had. He is excellent in his followup and course of medical actions needed to get the best outcome. I highly recommend Dr. Karich to family, friends and anyone who is having shoulder and arm problems due to injuries. The best of the best in my opinion.

I'm a bit taken aback at his high marks from other patients... I feel like they must have seen someone different than whom I saw. He was so arrogant and full of himself. I think he must have just jumped off a surfboard right before he came in. Proceeding to tell me that I didn't have the issues I was stating. After seeing another doctor who used ultrasound on my shoulders and knees as a diagnostic tool they saw multiple tears and bone spurs exceeding 6cm long. Explaining the pain I was so desperately trying to explain to Karich. I am glad others had better experiences and hope that what I experienced was just a fluke. But from my personal experience I would NEVER recommend this man to any person I care about, or any person at all. Wishing everyone else good luck !

Did a great job on putting my left arm, literally, back together after I severely fractured the proximal humerus from a 20' fall off my mountain bike. Before the surgery my PMD stated he, Dr. Karich, is known as part of the "A-team" within their medical group. I completely agree as I will be able to mountain bike again in the near future, not to mention use the lat pull at the gym!

I fell and broke my shoulder in a couple of places. I was taken to St.Judes hospital in Fullerton. I met Dr. Karich, he is very professional, and knows what he is doing. I am very pleased with his services and recommend him to anyone needing surgery.

I don't like to leave negative reviews but my experience with Dr. Karich over the course of two years was negative, to say the least. I went in repeatedly for shoulder pain, and he kept ignoring anything about my condition which didn't match his first diagnosis that I had calcium deposits. There were several incidents which greatly bothered me. He once acted incredulous that I was in pain. I've given birth to three children. I know pain and I had it, but because it didn't fit with his original diagnosis, he seemed annoyed. On one visit, he walked out on me without even saying goodbye. I thought he was leaving to fetch something and returning to the room but no, an assistant came in to schedule an MRI. "Where's Dr. Karich?" I asked. "I didn't get to ask him my question." 'He left for lunch. He told me to schedule an MRI for you," the assistant told me.Unbelievable. You leave without saying goodbye? So rude. Long story short, he has very poor bedside manner and spent two years behaving… incredulously about my shoulder pain and telling me it was calcium. Well guess what, Dr. Karich? On my first month of seeing my second opinion, I was diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear. Six months later,I am recuperating from surgery and on my way to a full recovery. Meanwhile, you wasted two years of my life insisted and I had calcium deposits, not believing my pain level, refusing to prescribe me anything for the immense pain I was in and stubbornly refusing to listen to any symptoms of mine that didn't fit your diagnosis. I wasted two years of pain and being treated like I was imagining things when I had a serious injury. Cannot recommend.
