I had a very upsetting experience with Dr. Andrew Moss Kaunitz. During my appointment, he repeatedly referred to me as “heavy set.” The term was used multiple times, despite my visible discomfort, and the manner in which it was said felt shaming rather than medically supportive. I understand that discussions about weight can sometimes be medically relevant. However, the way this was communicated lacked sensitivity and compassion. The repetition of this language caused me significant emotional distress, and I ultimately became tearful during the visit. An OB/GYN appointment is an inherently vulnerable experience, and patients deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, this interaction left me feeling embarrassed and reluctant to seek follow-up care. I hope this feedback encourages more patient-centered and respectful communication in the future.
