Dr. Andrew Mackey, MD

Went to urgent care for concern regarding an infection. Was prescribed a heavy duty antibiotic by Dr. Andrew Mackey while a sample was taken for analysis. The bacteria turned out to be STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS. Fast forward two years and I return to urgent care with another infection. Again antibiotics were prescribed and a sample taken. The antibiotics were effective, however, the lab results that came back this time indicated METHICILLIN RESISTANT STAPH AUREUS. So here we are with a perfect case of antibiotics prescribed that in tern have led to the development of a resistant strain. So now I have a resident bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics. It seems to me that antibiotics should only be prescribed as a last resort. Quick urgent care solutions to an infection have consequences. It is the patient and the community at large who will have to bear the consequences of casual use of antibiotics.

Bad attitude

Went to Urgent Care with acute pain. Explained underlying conditions and concern that this acute pain is different and location (neck and head) worried me. Mackey said “well, what do you want me to do?” Tone of his voice was annoyed like I was wasting his time. He told me to figure it out with my regular doctor and dismissed me. Even if he felt this was not something urgent care could help with, his manner and attitude left me knowing he is not a healer but a burned out physician that should be in patient care. Perhaps research so he doesn’t have to deal with humans in need
