Doesn't treat conditions aggressively enough. Not helpful with the problem at all. Needs to work on his bedside manner also.

I have had a lot of experience meeting different doctors with all types of specialties - majority of them not a good experience. It was my first time meeting with Dr. Andrew Mermelstein. My medical issues were little complex but I appreciated it when Dr. Mermelstein was very thorough, detail oriented, genuine, but also honest. He treated me with respect and took me seriously in a non-judgemental way. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND seeing Dr. Andrew Mermelstein if you need any care related to rheumatology.

I was truly sick and requested a script to have a muscle biopsy. Dr. Mermelstein refused stating that he felt the benefit did not outweigh the risks. He even told me during one visit that he had stopped listening to me during our appts because my complaints were always the same. I went to John Hopkins on my own and the did a muscle biopsy which led to a genetic test for confirmation.... I have fascioscapularhumoral dystrophy. FSHD for short. FSHD is the most common form of muscular dystrophy and my complaints that he stopped listening too.... Are textbook symptoms for FSHD. I am in the less than 10% of FSHD patients that have both heart and lung involvement and I retain CO2 so tomorrow is not promised to me. But Dr. Mermelstein admittedly didn't think my complaints were important enough to listen to. I had been coming to him for several years begging for help and in the end I had to go out on my own to get the help I needed. Not to mention the staff was horrible when scheduling… appointments on the telephone. There was one phone call that was over an hour long just trying to schedule an appointment because the staff kept switching me from one extension to another snd putting me on hold. That is when I decided to fire this medical practice.

Even though the wait time is a bit long, it is because he spends time with his patients and definitely worth the wait. He is one of few doctors that wants to know about you and cares about you and your future. He wants to help his patients and see them be at their best!

I must say I came in with a grumpy disposition and I was met by a very friendly welcoming staff member named Stacy. She was professional in all ways. I would recommend this office highly.

He's a great doctor. Very kind and very intelligent. He is a great diagnostician. I had two other doctors before him and they did not help me at all. He is the best.

He really cares about his patients. I highly reccomend Dr. Mermelstein.
