Dr. Andrew John Morpurgo, MD

I was dismissed from another pain clinic for a misunderstanding, and because one of the receptionist didn’t make a note from a phone call I made to the practice. I had an agreement with the Dr at this clinic that I could take a particular medication, but if I did I needed to call and let them know. I was in shock when I received a dismissal from them in the mail, and I called to explain and show them on my phone that I made the call. I was told that once they sent a dismissal letter they would not reverse it no matter the reason??! I had my Family Physician send a referral to Cayuga Medical Center, and they wouldn’t see me or even allow me or my family Physician explain the circumstance behind the dismissal from the other Pain Clinic. What has happened to the health care system in regards to Pain Management since the CDC opioid epidemic is so rediculous and unfair to the people that are truly in horrendous chronic pain. The CDC has written new guidelines lately as to how to handle… those of us that are truly in pain, and had a significantly better quality of life when on opioid pain medication. I just called Cayuga Medicals Pain Clinic and was cut off by an employee after one sentence when trying to explain my dislema...Is this fair? Is this how we’re going to treat people that are in need of help from now on? So many pain patients have been committing suicide or buying street drugs because of this exact reason!! ??Hence the new CDC recommendations that every Physician(atleast a dozen) I’ve spoken to in the last 7 months haven’t bothered to read. I guess that I’ll soon just be another statistic..Sincerely, MT

Dr. Morpurgo is an excellent physician, he is very knowledgeable, he is through with explanation of diseases as well as treatment, he is easy to talk to, he actually listens! His bedside manner is a little strange at first but he is actually very personable & has a good sense of humor. The only negative thing I can say is that one of the women that work in his office is kinda snippy & rude over the phone when you have to call the office, which it may be because she is busy but it is everytime I have had to talk to this lady, she is fairly new, the other lady that works for him is amazing in person as well as over the phone she has been there for years, she is great! All & all I am happy with this doctor & pros outweigh the cons.

I did not care for this doctor AT ALL! He did not even really try to help me with my pain and would not let me put in my own opionion on my care, he got very upset and refused to see me. He would never return my calls,even when I just had a question about medication... (he precribed me meds for fibromalgia for shoulder pain? Would not recomend for anyone!
