Dr. Andrew Nguyen, MD, PhD

I needed to have a follow up for an issue I am having with a previous surgery and Dr. Nguyen has very poor communication skills. His office directed me to an imaging company and the imaging company and his office had zero coordination. My imaging orders were sent wrong and his office never explained that I needed to go back and get the imaging. All he did was blame me for not knowing where his office sent me. There was little effort on their part to get the images. My only option was to make another appointment waiting weeks and to come back in vs. his office getting the films and calling me back. His primary solution is to talk to a pain specialist. I have a lot of experience with spine surgeons and Dr Nguyen is by far the worst one. He had no concern for wasted time for his patients nor did he make any effort to understand the situation. The Doctors at Cedars Sinai are significantly better trained. Save yourself grief and make the drive.

I saw Dr. Nguyen because I was referred to him by a Neurologist who found a possible brain tumor during a MRI. When we saw him, Dr. Nguyen was rude, abusive, insulting and bad mannered. I could go on and on about his demeanor but I don't think I have enough room left. After reviewing the MRI he really became abusive, telling us that this SMALL tumor was not the cause of my symptoms and that he has seen people with much larger tumors, some the size of grapefruits, that didn't cause this many problems. We were in the examination room maybe 5-10 minutes. He never conducted any type of physical examination or asked any questions. It appears he only looked at the MRI and read the radiologist's report. He maybe has a degree at Harvard but I wouldn't let him operate on my neighbor's cat.

After years of pain and going through my insurance hoops to get an MRI and meet with a doctor to find out what is wrong my back, Dr. Nguyen spent 3 minutes with me (literally!). He was rude, cut me off, wouldn't let me talk. He asked me where my pain was and when I answered him, he told me, "That doesn't make sense. It can't be there," and would not let me finish. He was the stereotypical obnoxious, bullying, arrogant, egotistical doctor!!!!!! I didn't believe those kinds of doctors still existed. If you want a kind, caring human doctor, don't go to Dr. Nguyen. On top of all this, he told me he was referring me to another pain management doctor and to get more X-rays, and now, a 6 weeks later, neither of the referrals have been made! So the office isn't even competent at making referrals. I will never go back to Dr. Nguyen or his office.

He came to see me at Palomar Hospital In Escondido. He is very rude and has a big ego. called me stupid because I disagreed with his diagnosis and wanted a second. Told my daughter I had 6 months to live but never told me this information. He will never do any surgery on me can not be trusted to tell the truth.

Well worth the wait. He is amazing and genuinely cares about each patient.

To Neurosurgeon Dr. Andrew Nguyen, I would like to personally Thank You Sir, for your flawless work. My 40 year old Brother has a rare condition called hydrocephalus. Dr. Nguyen was able to successfully perform an emergency shunt revision. This procedure was Very high risk in nature and was a last resort for my brother. Dr. Nguyen was able to remove my brother's old shunt from his heart and redirect it to his lung without any complications. Dr Nguyen saved my Brother's life, I am forever grateful!
