Dr. Andrew Warren Tharp, MD

I waited for two hours to see him. No one told me anything about the long wait. I finally asked if I was going to be seen. His nurse seems scared of him. She said he usually has long wait times and asked a number of repetitive questions. When he showed up, he was angry, rude and didn't want to listen to me. He told me to be quiet so he could read my chart. He wants to get all the information from the chart without talking to the patient, I guess. I won't go back. Not sure why he ever got an award. I just felt bullied.

He seemed more interested in getting out his opinion, based on minimal information and incomplete medical history. He took a whole 3-5 minutes of reviewing available medical history to determine that a diagnosis made by other specialist/s, whom had a full medical history in addition to multiple medical exams and testing results, had misdiagnosed me. He offered no alternative prognosis or explanation of issues and/or test results which contradicted his 5 minute diagnostic assessment, or should I say “misdiagnosed” assessment. Note, the diagnosis was one which his colleague had a hand in diagnosing, who not even a month prior, had stated that it’s still the more likely than not diagnosis, and the fact the treatment had been working reinterates that. Dr.Tharp flat out told me, they had no need to see me anymore, and he wasn’t even the normal doctor I see. I have never been treated with such a dismissive apathy, by a medical professional.

Terrible. I went for a second opinion on cataract surgery. He said I was too picky about the results & said he wouldn't treat me. Left in the middle of the exam. And charged me.

Little nervous about LASIK. At my initial appointment Dr. Tharpe was very friendly and knowledgeable and put me at ease. It's been about 6 months now and I'm thrilled I got it done by the Vision Care Center.

Very professional and easy to talk to. Made me feel at ease and helped me understand the science behind the procedures.

Chose Dr. Tharp after researching several doctors and was very happy with the level of attentiveness and care I got. He took time to explain LASIK to me, answered all of my questions and concerns and made me feel very comfortable with the procedure. The staff was nice and pleasant to be around and I highly recommend him.
