She says she "specializes" in "attachment disorders". She has NO CLUE about attachment. All she does is "play therapy" which has been shown to be - at the very best- non effective for kids with attachment disorders. More importantly, play therapy can actually make the child even more manipulative. All she could say was "Oh, that's so sad" over and over and over again. She has a very bad reputation with the local adoptive community. Psychologists and other practitioners who don't understand attachment create even more damage with their notes about the "angry parent". If I could give this practitioner a huge NEGATIVE rating, I would. She doesn't even deserve a big ZERO.

Dr. Cavett is extremely compassionate about serving her clients in an honest, direct, and appropriate manner. She does not hesitate to go that extra mile for the children she serves. Dr. Cavet is an expert in several areas of child psychology which gives her a unique ability to build a relationship of trust very quickly with her young clients. My grandson truly loves his visits with her and actually looks forward to them. He refers to her as his "friend" when he talks about her - our entire family thinks the same of her! She is totally remarkable!
