Dr. Angela Christine Chapman, MD

On my initial visit with Dr. Chapman, not knowing how to proceed, I started an explanation of my conditions, and she held up her hand to stop me. Then she said, "I don't have enough time for counseling because there's not enough psychiatrists in our area, I strictly do medication maintenance." I thought it odd, but was fine with that. But how do you know how to treat your patients if you don't let them talk??!

It looks like I am not the first person here to be charged $95 for a missed appt. I even called in to let them know beforehand. It appears by others reviews that she frequently cancels her appts with patients, but if we cancel, we get charged. I said I've never been charged for a missed appt before, but they wanted me to pay it before I could see her today. I said I couldn't pay it today so my appt was cancelled and I said I would find another psychiatrist. So she lost a patient. I don't think they cared.

Ive been a patient for 2 years and have been called multiple times in that time the day of to tell me the apt is cancelled. She is always late as well. I have taken it with a grain of salt until today. My 6 month follow up was entered on the incorrect date and I was charged 95 dollars for not showing up on the wrong date. I called and argued but to no avail. If we went off same day cancellations and late appointments, I would have a mortgage payment coming to me.

I was not very satisfied with Dr. Chapman. I called her office as a new patient. I had to fill out an hour worth of paperwork. Her receptionist called back and told me I could not be seen be her. That was very unprofessional. Please be warn about Dr. Chapman.

I was referred to Angela by my counselor who did not have prescriptive authority in order to seek medication therapy to supplement my counseling sessions. Angela was also regularly erratic during sessions, seeming distracted or unfocused on meeting my needs as opposed to her own; she seemed exasperated, as if she did not know what to do for treatment options when a course of medication made no improvements and only served to cause unbearable side effects. It gave me the impression she does not keep up with current medication literature. Additional issues with her practice: Inappropriate billing practices, ie. upcoding, meaning finding ways to charge higher rates although she did not meet all the clinical requirements to necessitate such a change; sessions were not focused as she was often distracted by her phone; she regularly arrived late or cancelled appointments within an hour prior to session; she also spends the absolute minimum time she can with a patient to maximize… billing.

Dr. Chapman is a really good doctor. Her staff is very kind and courteous. Would definitely recommend.

She is very aggressive in her treatment. She instantly thinks she knows what the problem is and will not change her mind unless you get in her face. She does seem like she is hard headed and misdiagnosed me.

It is a shame because I believe that Dr. Chapman has the Knowledge and know how but it is her personality that gets in the way. She speaks way too much of and about herself during a session, seems agitated often, does not have patience and lacks compassion. I was verbally attacked by her often. She does know her stuff though. I think she has her own baggage that gets in the way of her being a professional.
