Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I chose a career in psychology due to a relationship I had with one of my high school teachers. This teacher was helpful to me, and I thought, what better career is there than helping others? While there are many careers that involve helping others, I felt drawn to helping people with their personal problems. What I want my patients to know about me:In my work with clients, I emphasize the importance of an atmosphere of listening, accurate understanding, empathy, exploration, and mutual respect. From that foundation, I emphasize a collaborative relationship with clients in which I mostly utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach. Here, we discover if there are ways that clients might challenge their assumptions and old ways of behaving in order to live a life more consistent with their well-being, goals, and values.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:I am very much interested and involved with music! I play the guitar and am attempting to …learn the piano. My favorite music to listen to is the Beatles, old rock & roll from the 50s and 60s, as well as early jazz. One of my favorite musicians is Louis Armstrong. I also enjoy kicking back and relaxing at the movies.
