Dr. Anita Rae Smith, MD

I have never been treated with such disrespect by a medical facility before. I am so outraged by my interaction with this office that I feel it is necessary to post my experience on every review board possible. I decided it was time to establish a PCP and after much research I chose Dr. Anita Smith. I quickly was placed on the schedule. The day of my appointment, approximately two hours before my scheduled appointment time, the front office called and left me a voice mail stating they needed to reschedule me. Not a big deal, I work in the medical field and understand things happen. I was quickly rescheduled. The day of my appointment arrived and once again two hours before my appointment I received a voicemail from the office stating they needed to reschedule. So, I called back, still not super upset ready to try to get on the schedule again. My words to the front office receptionist were “This is very inconvenient and medical professional to medical professional I need you to get… my on the books for a time that I will not be cancel again.” I was not rude, did not raise my voice, or cruse or anything! The front office assistant said “okay let me get my manager” I was placed on hold. I waited 10 minutes and she never came back. So this past Friday I decided to call and try to re schedule again. I called during normal business hours (not lunch time as I am aware, they close) And the voice mail states the office is closed. I checked the website which says they are open on Friday. I call today first thing in the morning to try to reschedule. The front office receptionist informs me I would not be able to reschedule because I had canceled my appointment twice. I said um no you canceled me. She said yes because the Doctor had surgery. I said exactly so that’s not my fault. She said we tried to contact you to reschedule but you hung up. I said I know because I wa on hold for 10 minutes. I told her I wanted to talk to the manager, and she said this was the managers decision. Honestly, I am completely shocked. I have tried multiple time to schedule with this office and my inability to proceed with an appointment is because of them. And yes I did hang up after being on hold for 10 minutes. You want to know why? Because I am a Registered Nurse and working in the PACU and was calling from the Nurses station. Do you think I have an infinite amount of time to wait? No, I have patients recovering from anesthesia, needing medications, alarms going off, and Doctors orders to fill. As a soon to be Nurse Practitioner I will not forget the behavior of this office. If I were the provider of this location, I would truly be disappointed in the unprofessionalism of the staff.

I called to make an appointment with Dr Smith as a new patient. The person on the phone asked if I wanted to do a full physical or just a visit. I said I just wanted to do a first visit especially so I could get my prescriptions renewed since I changed insurance. The person asked which medications I take and said "oh Dr. Smith doesn't prescribe those types of medications", "What does that mean?", "Well you can see her but she wouldn't be able to prescribe that medication", "What? It's not like we're talking medical marijuana here ... it's just a prescription", "Yea there is extra paperwork so she doesn't prescribe those types of medications". So in other words she refuses to treat people based on how much paperwork it takes. I don't think that's illegal but it's certainly immoral.

I've been seeing Dr. Smith for almost 3 years. Her staff is always professional and personable. Dr. Smith is an excellent doctor who is caring and I believe truly wants the best for her patients.

I was a new patient to Anita Smith. I cannot and will not refer to as a DR of anything. Her staff is very unprofessional and she has a do not care, cold, and unprofessional attitude. I called the office because I had a question only to be told the Dr doesn't take calls. Wow!! What DR doesn't take calls from a patient? The unprofessional receptionist said I will email her and she will answer your questions. After the receptionist returned my call and basically said the medicine would fix the problem. I requested a call from her. Anita called me back and was EXTREMELY uncaring and had a flippant attitude. After the conversation ended she basically said find a new doctor. So now I have to start over from scratch and Anita could care less. STAY AWAY. The staff is very unprofessional, unethical, and completely uncaring!

Dr. Smith was my doctor for many years and there was never an issue. i always felt that she was compassionate and understanding but I was WRONG!!! I needed a procedure that cost $1638 and I couldn't afford it right now. I received a letter in the mail saying she was "DROPPING" me as a patient because I didn't have the procedure done. How do you drop a patient because they can't afford treatment. Isn't that when your compassion is supposed to kick in!!?!? She has NONE! All she had to do was have me sign a form saying that I refused treatment. IDIOT!! When I called for further explanation she was cold & unfeeling. I was definitely shocked by her flippant attitude towards a long term patient who could not afford treatment. I would NOT recommend her if you are going for more than an annual exam. She apparently has a history of dropping patients.

Terrible service, offensive and rude. Not a loyal doctor.

She used to be good but lost her fastball in the last few years. Ridiculous policies in obtaining records or trying to get them sent to specialists. She fired a friend I recommended when she was frustrated after not being diagnosed with the flu (Dr. Smith refused to swab test, Minute Clinic did and she had it but by that time it was too late for her to get Tamiflu). I was "fired" as well for being upset about records not being sent to a specialist as requested. Her lack of follow up is astounding. Appointments are fairly easy to get...for obvious reasons. Any conflict and she "fires" you as a patient. No worries, wasn't plan on going back anyway. AVOID.

Staff routinely calls and asks to be called back while their phone service is off. Getting a prescription refill called in is very difficult. Do not feel taken care of or cared about, even though Dr Smith is nice.

I have been doctor hopping for years now. I was searching for a family doctor who listened when I described my rare form of migraines, didn't just throw medicines at me but also advised me on lifestyle changes, and a doctor who didn't just make up stuff but looked things up if they needed to. She fits all of these and is also kind and understanding to boot.

she is amazing doctor..so nice and spending time and talking with patient...the nicest doctor i ever met...
