Dr Anjali Rajdeva Gopal

I’ve never written a review on one of these sites before- but I feel compelled to let people know that Dr. Gopal had a terrible bedside manner and made snap judgments about my health. She told me that a physical condition that left me weak and unable to walk was due to mental illness, or in her words “out of control anxiety and depression.” I shared that I was in therapy, and my therapist and I both felt strongly that my disability was not due to mental illness. I was immediately dismissed. I suspect she didn’t know what I was suffering from and instead led me to believe it was all in my head, invalidating my (clearly) severe illness. This was a very painful thing to hear from a doctor who knew me all of 20 minutes. She seemed to want nothing to do with me and dismissed me as some kind of mentally unstable person. Thankfully I did not believe her and continued advocating for myself. I was later diagnosed with an auto-immune disease.

If you don’t have RA or Lupus, see another rheumatologist. If you have fibromyalgia she will send you to Shirley Ryan ability lab so don’t bother going to appointment with her. Totally up to her to decide what she wants to focus on, but maybe provide a referral for another doctor if you think they can help more? After all, you did study general medicine before you specialized. I’ve been having problems with my joints for about 2 years (since having children) which causes my body to be be misaligned and causes pain- trying to find out what it is. Been going to Pt for a year and a half to constantly fix my alignment. She was extremely dismissive and saying how things “weren’t her science” yet felt like cognitive behavioral therapy or antidepressants might help. She was patronizing with me being stressed as parent, which i honestly barely said was stressor. Well guess what, psychology isn’t “your science either.”

Dr. Gopal has been extremely responsive in her communication with me and has tried numerous therapies to help control my arthritis. I have multiple health issues and she coordinates care and medications with my other docs. I'm very happy with the care she has provided and especially with her timely and responsive communication. I highly recommend Dr. Gopal.

Dr. Ghopal totally knows what she is doing! She is a firm believer in the power of physical therapy and this has helped me numerous times. Rather than just focusing on the presenting symptom, she focuses on skills to prevent it in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend her.

She has to be by far one of the most ignorant physicians I've ever encountered in my life.

Not sure I understand the negative reviews. Dr. Gopal has been great, she listens to my concerns, spends ample time with me and has been wonderful in treating my aggressive disease. The few times I have questioned her advice/treatment decisions, she has been right and has my well-being in mind. Her staff has always been very nice and pleasant to work with.

I have been seeing Dr. Gopal for years and don't believe these reviews are for the same person. She essentially cured me within the first 2 visits. I find her very helpful, accessible, friendly, and very considerate of holding to an accurate appointment schedule. Only once did she fall behind schedule and make me wait - all other times I have been in and out in minutes.

Really poor. Spent the whole time entering info on the computer without actually sitting, listening to what I have to say, assessing, examining and ultimately diagnosing. The drug required was determined in the first two minutes despite the examination not yet taking place. Then the rest of the appointment was spent talking about insurance. Whilst knowledge of insurance is definitely beneficial, the primary objective of the doctor should be on patient treatment and care. Communication was focused on trying to highlight how experienced she is (I've seen hundreds of patients and this has been the best treatment for them) rather than the customized solution that will best suit my symptoms and needs. There is a reason the wait time to see this doctor is a lot less than other rheumatologists under my insurance plan. I should have been more patient...

Dr. Gopal is very intelligent and professional. Although my case is complicated, she took the time to be thorough and also compassionate. I disagree with the negative reviews given. I seen Dr. Gopal several times and she was consistently positive, professional and extremely knowledgable. She is one of the best physicians I have ever had and i highly recommend her! She is very fact-based and to the point which I find refreshing.

Dr. Gopal should be under the supervision of a more experienced doctor until she learns how to prescribe medications properly. I was given full dosage of a drug that required a titration (gradual increase) of a medication and I suffered for 5 days the worst headache tripping feelings. Later found out from Pharmacist that I should have had titration pack, called doctor's office and was told it would now be waiting at the pharmacy...no follow up call to see how I was or apology for wrong medication was ever given. Her idea of treatment of Fibromyalgia is to group all her patients into one category "all you Fibromyalgia patients this or that". I am an individual who deserves individual educated treatment not wrong medication dosages and an uncaring doctor.
