Dr. Anjali Shashank Nemawarkar, MD

My husband and I used this doctor for several years. I think she is fine for typical issues - cold, bronchitis, etc. On my more recent complex issues, I was not impressed. She missed that many of my symptoms were menopause related. Over the next year, she started and stopped 4 medications. What I thought were medicine reactions were hot flashes. At the very last medicine she told me if this didn't help, then I didn't need to come back. I get treated elsewhere now for my hormones, and I haven't been back. Will be getting a new PCP.

I was admitted to St. David's where she happened to be the admitting hospitalist. She was hoping that I might have a certain type of tumor about which she was writing a research paper, and told me to come see her when I got out. Still feeling crummy, and not having my digestive issue resolved, I figured perhaps she could help me...I mean, she is an internal medicine doctor, right? When I arrived, she informed me that I didn't have the tumor she was interested in, so why did I come in? She performed a perfunctory battery of tests and had the nurse call me to tell me they were normal. She told me if the tests were normal, there would be no need for her to see me again. I guess she wasn't really interested in helping me feel better or digging deeper. She also told me I might want to go see a psychiatrist, because maybe it was a mental disorder. Within the same year, I discovered I had an autoimmune disorder, premature menopause, pituitary and thyroid disfunction, celiac disease, and some… severe nutritional deficiencies. But no, it was all in my head because I take Zoloft. Thanks a lot, Dr. N!

Today I had an appointment for the first time with Dr. Nemawarkar. I am about to change from Cigna to Medicare due to my age. Dr. Nemawarkar was very welcoming and Extremely knowledgable. She gave me a thorough exam and fully discussed my current medications and special concerns. Due to my stroke and diabetes she took extra time to make sure all the meds from my former doctor were listed correctly and all dosages were accurate. I was concerned about the transition between doctors and Medicare. I was on my way to another lab to have labs done and she made sure to let me know that I could have them done in- house on my current insurance...so I went Downstairs and did so. She assured me that switching to Medicare will be simple in a couple of months. I found Dr. Nemawarkar quite kind, thorough, and willing to take Time to listen. I would highly recommend her and her MA and nurse, Pat. What a team.
